††††The choc-ice was invented by an American, C.K. Nelson, in 1922. He originally called it 'Eskimo Pie'. Nelson began experimenting after a child came into his confectionary store in Iowa and was unable to decide between chocolate and ice-cream. Nelson experimented first with ordinary chocolate before developing a special kind of chocolate coating for the ice-cream. By 1926, the manufacture of choc-ices had spread to Britain.
