†Copper is a reddish-brown metal. It is easily shaped and is a good conductor of heat and electricity.
It is possible that copper was first used around 8000 BC, but it wasn't until
around 6500 BC that it was melted and cast, in the area which is now Turkey.
Various objects such as weapons could be made from copper and these were
buried with Egyptians around 5000 BC.
Today copper is used to make cooking utensils, electric cables and wires and,
in alloys with other metals, for making many coins.
