This has led to a move towards digital transmissions that allow more calls to be made within a given cell without interference.
The first experimental cellular telephone systems went into operation in Japan and Chicago during the course of 1978. In late 1983, the system went into full commercial usage. Britain's cellular telephone system was launched in 1985.
