  1. This directory is here because MetaTool searches this location by default
  2. for preferences files when there is no METACONFIG environment variable
  3. defined, such as what might happen if the user fails to run the INSTALL
  4. script before clicking an icon that uses MetaTool (README-FIRST is a good
  5. example).  MetaTool selects an appropriate preferences file based on the
  6. kickstart version.
