- CONVERT TO NEW ZIP FORMAT
-
- Included in this package is some commentary and a batch file.
- The batch file calls PKUNPAK and PKZIP to convert ARC type files
- to the newer and better ZIP type files. If you don't have
- PKUNPAK, use SEA's ARC, or whatever is necessary, in its place.
- Just edit the batch file replacing any PKUNPAK commands with ARC
- commands.
-
- NOTE: PLEASE READ THE CONTENTS OF THIS BATCH FILE BEFORE
- RUNNING IT. I WILL NOT BE REPONSIBLE FOR THE RESULTS OF
- ITS USE. IT WORKED FINE FOR ME AND I HOPE IT MAY BE OF
- SOME ASSISTANCE TO YOU.
-
- NOTE: NOTE THAT ONCE THE NEW Z I P FILE HAS BEEN CREATED THAT
- THE OLD A R C FILE WILL BE DELETED.
-
- NOTE: IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE CONVERSION PROCESS BE RUN ON A
- COMPUTER WITH A FIXED DISK FOR SPEED.
-
- NOTE: IF YOU EXECUTE THE BATCH FILE FROM THE SAME DISK THE
- FILES TO BE CONVERTED ARE ON, THIS DISK MUST HAVE ENOUGH
- SPACE TO HOUSE THE OLD ARC FILE, THE NEW ZIP FILE AND
- ALL OF THE FILES IN THE ARC FILE UN-COMPRESSED.
-
- FILES ARE UN-COMPRESSED ONTO THE CURRENT DISK. THE NEW
- ZIP FILE IS CREATED ON THE ORIGINAL DISK AND DIRECTORY.
-
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Suggestion:
-
- If you have many ARC files to convert create another batch
- file to drive the included batch file as follows.
-
- REM One line for each file you have to convert.
- command /c catoz D:\PATH\FILE1
- command /c catoz D:\PATH\FILE2
- command /c catoz D:\PATH\FILE3
-
- Use my FILEFIND program (file #13473 in IBMPC library,
- command = ff/lno/m(.arc)\) or some program that will search
- your disk for all of the files. Remember to delete the file
- name extension(.ARC) if you use a find program to make a list
- of files.
-
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- For a short synopsis of the usage of the included batch file type
- CATOZ at the DOS prompt and press the enter key.
-
- Happy computing
- and
- Good luck!
