  5. This handy program for planning a garden presents an attractive initial
  6. title screen with handsome graphics followed by a main menu after pressing
  7. any key. The choices are: describe where you live and your garden
  8. dimensions, choose what vegetables you want, display how to lay out your
  9. garden, choose when to plant/harvest, add to/modify vegetable chart, and
  10. quit. You can press the number of your choice, "?" for an explanation, or
  11. "!" to go back to the prior menu.

  13. The first choice offers a screen with a menu requesting the following
  14. information: request: desired garden name, length, width, orientation, and
  15. the region of the country the garden is located in. Under the second choice
  16. of the main menu, choose vegetables, another menu is offered with three
  17. choices: choose vegetable, print chosen vegetables, and return to main
  18. menu. Another screen appears with the indication of the approximate
  19. percentage of garden left with a negative number displayed if more space
  20. has been used than you have allocated. Then there are seven columns: the
  21. name of the vegetable, the suggested row feet per person, choose number of
  22. people to feed, feed the family (y or n -- size you have indicated), number
  23. of row/feet to plant, number of units to plant, and the units in which the
  24. vegetable is normally measured -- crowns, pounds, packets, ounces, etc.
  25. This works as follows: the first vegetable for example is asparagus. If the
  26. number of people entered is four, the screen indicates that you need 80/row
  27. feet planted, for four people, 80 plants need to be planted, and so on for
  28. the rest of the vegetables. The third choice from the main menu displays
  29. how to lay out your garden according to the information on the vegetables
  30. you want to plant. Selection number four presents a screen that asks you
  31. whether you are planting in spring or fall. Depending on your response, you
  32. are given window dates when to plant and expect to harvest your vegetables.

  35. managing your garden.
