  3. Welcome to the Simtel MSDOS CDROM!

  5. This CDROM contains over 6000 of the latest files from the popular Simtel
  6. Archive of freeware, shareware, and public domain programs.
  7.  
  8. The first CDROM contains "standard" programs in categories such as
  9. animation, business, chemistry, databases, file management, graphics,
  10. internet, math, science, teaching, weather, and more. 
  11.  
  12. The second CDROM contains "technical" programs in categories such as ada
  13. programming, c and c++ programming, djgpp development system, engineering,
  14. ham radio, installation programs, perl scripting, security, system
  15. utilities, and more.

  40. Quick Start Instructions:
  41.  
  42.   Windows 95 / 98 / NT:
  43.     Right-click on the "Start" button and choose "Explore".  In the left
  44.     window, scroll until you find your CDROM drive.  Right-click on the
  45.     CDROM drive and choose "Setup".
  46.  
  47.     Alternatively, select the "Start" menu and choose "Run".  At the Run box, 
  48.     type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.
  49.  
  50.   Windows 3.1:
  51.     Go to "File" menu under program manager and choose Run.  At the
  52.     Command Line box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.
  53.     This will install a group folder with icons for this cdrom.
  54.  
  55.   MSDOS Quick Start:
  56.     Change to your CDROM drive and type "view".
  57.     Example:
  58.           C:\> D:
  59.           D:\> view
  60.  
  61. Using the HTML interface:
  62.  
  63. We have included 00_index.htm files so the user may use a Web browser to
  64. view our disc. 
  65.  
  66. In order to view this disc using these 00_index.htm files, point your Web
  67. browser to the root level 00_index.htm file.

  69. For example, in Netscape:
  70.  
  71.   1. Click on "File"
  72.   2. Click on "Open File"
  73.   3. Choose your CDROM drive
  74.   4. Select the 00_index.htm file
  75.  
  76. In Internet Explorer:

  78.   1. Click on "File"
  79.   2. Click on "Open"
  80.   3. Click on "Browse"
  81.   4. Choose your CDROM drive

  86. WinView and View
  87.  
  88. To make browsing the disc easier, we have included the program "WinView" 
  89. for Windows, and the program "View" for MSDOS on the CDROM.  These
  90. programs allow you to page through index files, browse through directories
  91. on the CD, view documentation and install the programs you want on your
  92. hard disk.

  98. This disk contains many shareware programs. Shareware can be considered to
  99. be a sort of try before you buy system where you are expected to pay the
  100. program author a registration fee if you find the program or image useful.
