This question gets asked periodically, so I figure I'll just post the
latest info on how to get the X.PC source and documentation.
X.PC INFORMATION AND UPDATE POLICY
Revised August 1, 1988
X.PC IS A PUBLIC DOMAIN PROTOCOL. THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THE X.PC
DRIVER FOR THE PC OR ITS CONCEPTS.
However, for a small cost-defraying charge, the X.PC technical
documentation with source code on diskette is mailed out on the second
Monday of each month. It is sent by first class mail through the U.S.
Postal Service.
X.PC Packet Information
The X.PC Packet provides guidelines to interface the X.PC Driver to an
application on an IBM PC (and 100% compatible) that runs under MS-DOS
or PC-DOS, version 2.00 and above.
Two sample applications (with source code) are provided on diskettes
with the X.PC Driver Module. Also provided are development utilities
which monitor the interaction between your application and the X.PC
Driver Module.
If you wish to modify the driver or to port the X.PC Driver to other
hardware or operating environments, the source code for the X.PC
Driver Module is also provided. The code is mainly written in
Microsoft C, and IBM Macro-assembler to manipulate the 8250
communications processor.
Also included with the X.PC technical documentation and state diagrams
is a utility that allows a PC with two serial cards to be used as an
X.PC line monitor/protocol analyzer.
X.PC Packet Cost
A check for $35.00 ($45.00 if outside the United States) covers the
cost of five (5) diskettes, the documentation, and the postage and
handling.
X.PC Packet Rush deliveries
Rush deliveries are processed only if the check and the completed
request are accompanied by a self-addressed (with billing account
number) airbill for overnight delivery. Self-addressed airbills for
Federal Express, DHL, or Airborne are accepted. No "bill recipient" or
COD (such as UPS) will be processed for rush delivery.
How to Order the X.PC Packet
1. Complete the X.PC Information Request order form on page 3.
2. Attach a check or money order payable to "BT Tymnet" for
$35.00 ($45.00 if outside the United States), to defray the costs
of the diskettes, shipping, and handling. There is NO CHARGE for
the X.PC public domain code itself.
Purchase orders or CODs are NOT ACCEPTED.
3. Send the order form and your check or money order to:
Tymnet Network Resources
M/S C41
South Bay Center
2560 North First Street
P.O. Box 49019
San Jose, CA 95161-9019
4. Your company will be placed id
when the next release of code or documentation is available.
5. The packet will be sent by first class mail. Postage is included in
the fee.
6. Orders are mailed on the second Monday of every month. Requests for
Express mail will be processed two to three days after receipt of
your order.
7. If you have any questions please
refer to the Development Support Policy in the X.PC Packet.
8. If you are an existing Tymnet customer and wish to be billed,
contact your Tymnet sales representative. You will need to
send in a P.O. or sign a Tymnet order letter.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us to continued to provide
you with the very best service possible.
