  6. Simtel.Net, which is located at Walnut Creek CDROM, is the origin point
  7. of Keith Petersen's world-wide distribution network for Shareware,
  8. Freeware, and Public Domain programs for MS-DOS, Windows 3.x, and
  9. Windows 95.

  11. All files submitted to Simtel.Net are scanned for viruses and trojans,
  12. and are reviewed by professional archivists.  Authors receive prompt
  13. attention in the processing and announcing of their uploads, which
  14. appear in Usenet newsgroups comp.archives.msdos.announce and/or
  15. comp.archives.ms-windows.announce (about 90,000 readers each) and in our
  16. MS-News mailing list (for those who do not have access to Usenet News).

  18.                    How to upload to Simtel.Net
  19.  
  20. Simtel.Net does not publish instructions for uploading files because we
  21. prefer to coordinate uploads by having contributors contact us first so
  22. we can check to make sure the program is not already in the archive.
  23.  
  24. File uploads are accepted via FTP using a special uploading account,
  25. via E-Mail using a special mailbox which does not interfere with
  26. regular correspondence, and via Dial-Up Modem.

  28. Authors (or authors' authorized agents), if you have a program to upload
  29. please send e-mail to upl-info@Simtel.Net with a short description of the
  30. files you wish to submit and the method you wish to use for uploading
  31. (FTP is preferred).  Please do not send files to that mailbox.

  33. Simtel.Net does not accept games for submission to the archives unless
  34. they are strictly educational.  Games which do not meet this requirement
  35. may be submitted to the games collection at Walnut Creek CDROM.  Upload
  36. instructions can be found in file /pub/games/incoming/00README.TXT on
  37. ftp.cdrom.com.

  39. The Simtel.Net collections are periodically published on CD-ROM by Walnut
  40. Creek CDROM.  If you do not wish to have your package distributed on
  41. CD-ROM please do not upload it.

  43. Programs that stop working after a fixed calendar date will not be
  44. accepted.
  45.  
  46. We cannot accept any program that encrypts or decrypts using a method
  47. that may be subject to U.S. export restrictions.

  49. Simtel.Net does not have NT or OS/2 collections because Walnut Creek
  50. CDROM already has a very popular NT collection called Newt and an
  51. OS/2 collection called Hobbes on ftp.cdrom.com and its mirrors.  For
  52. information on how to upload to the NT collection please contact
  53. support@cdrom.com.  For information on how to upload to the OS/2
  54. collection please contact djgruber@cdrom.com.
