───────────
TACO2.WAD
Plotline:
─────────
After going through the first hellish onslaught of mexican food, you find that
the infestations spread far deeper than you had thought. Now the demons have
taken all the taco bell scraps and turned a giant nuclear power plant into a
microwave oven to reheat them! It looks pretty bad. You tighten your grip on
your weapons and gather your comrades for an even bigger onslaught than the
last one...

What IS this thing?:
────────────────────
Your computer's hard drive is now the resting place of what is called a PWAD,
or (P)atch Wad file... When you load DOOM2.EXE with the -FILE extension, any
PWADS that are loaded will be used to replace or overwrite information in the
DOOM2.WAD file. Any information that is not overwritten in the DOOM2.WAD
file is then used in the game. The DOOM2.WAD file is only overwritten in RAM
so you don't have to worry about permanent changes to the .WAD file.
Taco Doom:
──────────
What is TACO2.WAD for? Well... it's the second of three coop pwads in the
Taco Doom series... it will hopefully at one point replace the first 15
DOOM 2 levels with Taco Doom... Why is it called Taco Doom? Don't ask... it's
an inside joke. Anyone who knows me online knows why I called it that. What
is it exactly? Think of it as another DOOM2.WAD file. It has levels that are
playable as Dmatch, Coop, or solo play.
These levels are 100% original... if you have TACO1.WAD then you may
want to use the sounds included in that wad file. TACO1 also has the music
files for TACO2 as well as TACO3. This wad only has the new maps and demos.
Skill Ratings:
──────────────
I use my skill as a player to balance the skill of my wads. Since my player
skill has increased drastically since I released TACO1, TACO2 is about twice
as hard. Each level pits you up against a challenging array of creatures. I
have gotten complaints from beta testers saying that it was TOO hard and that
they couldn't get far in skill 1 without cheat codes. Looking at the two
TACO's carefully I decided that this was an accurate complaint... TACO2 has
more blasting away, simply put. I know I can pass skill 1 with no problem so
according to me, I would rank skills this way:
Skill 1 : For challenging solo play.
Skill 2 : For extreme solo play, for easy 2 player play.
Skill 3 : A hellish nightmare for solo players,
For fast easy 2-4 player fun...
Skill 4 : Solo? NONONONO!... Definitely not. Best skill for
a REALLY gorey netgame.
Skill 5 : Are you nuts? You will DIE... I assure you. No way.
Recognize it? Same one from TACO1... kinda... Anyway... for the average
player I recommend this skill chart:
Skill 1 : ONLY skill for Solo Play... others would be suicide.
Skill 2 : Only if you could pass Skill 2 in TACO1 without much trouble
Skill 3 : Another Hellish nightmare. Somewhat gorey net play.
Skill 4 : BEST for netplay... straight out. However you may get
bored of dying... if this happens try skill 3.
Skill 5 : Forget this skill even exists. You will be beyond
frustrated and get so bored you'll wanna quit from lack
of success.
Compared to TACO1:
──────────────────
This wad has a little more dedicated towards detail in the levels. A major
complaint with TACO1 was that even thought it was fun to play, the rooms were
basically rectangles with lots of monsters. You'll find very few rooms with
nothing to them in this wad... I raked my brain for cool things to add in
this one. TACO3 is looking to be even more detailed than this one. But it
is hard to determine which details are fun and which ones are annoying. So
I'm trying to keep from getting TOO detailed.
Regarding TICDUP:
─────────────────
There is a thing that has been recently brought into the doomer world. It's
a Tic Duplification Factor. It allows the game to run at IPX speeds
sacrificing the smoothness in play. I strongly recommend the use of this in
the setting of TICDUP: 2. It may get choppy at some parts, but only in some
parts. In the rest it becomes somewhat smooth. I have played ticdup all the
way through TACO2 and I assure you that it doesn't get too bad. Levels to
watch out for with ticdup are levels 7 and 9. Level 9 especially runs a
little sluggish under ticdup in the beginning. But within 5 minutes you'll
be smooth again (unless you really suck at killing things)
Who is Phane:
─────────────
Phane is the author of this .WAD. Phane craves tacos. Phane gets tacos in
his new PWAD. Phane has made only one other PWAD, a lame DMATCH PWAD called
BiZQUiCK... You might wanna check it out. His biggest success is TACO1...
which is a 5 level coop wad... this wad is the sequel. Phane hopes to make a
TACO3... hopefully it will be done before quake comes out and makes DOOM2 look
like Pac Man.
