- Clay Sculptor is a triangle based Free-Form Deformation
- modeler. A user can geometrically deform imported triangle
- data and then export it in either RAW triangle format, POV-
- Ray or PolyRay scene file format.
-
- Hardware Requirements
- ---------------------
- This program requires either a 386 with a math co-processor
- or a 486 with a math co-processor and a minimum of 4 Megs of
- memory and a mouse. Due to the math intensive nature of the
- program and the memory hogging tendency of raw triangle data,
- a FAST 486 DX with 8 Megs or more of memory is recommended.
-
- Software Requirements
- ---------------------
- This program does require MS-DOS 6.2 or newer, with the MS
- DOS version of HIMEM.SYS in your CONFIG.SYS file, along with
- a mouse driver (MS Mouse ver.8.20a or newer). It will also
- work satisfactorily (but somewhat slower) in a Windows ver. 3.1
- DOS box. However it WILL NOT start from the Windows FileManager
- program. You must open a DOS box and start Clay from the DOS
- prompt, or start via a PIF file.

- New Stuff
-
- * Re-worked the Setup Menu (did away with the little pop-up
- panel and the bug in it).
-
- * Added 3 new buttons, ReverseX, ReverseY and ReverseZ, that
- allow the object to be swapped along the X, Y, and Z axis.
-
- * Added a SwapXY to allow object to be swapped between the 2
- axis.
-
- * Added a 3D XLate button so the object can be moved in 3D
- space.
-
- * Added a XYZScale button so the object can be scaled
- separately on each axis.
-
- * Added the capability to switch planes (within a View) by
- clicking the right mouse button while over the work area.
-
- * Added a Clay.Ini file.
-
- * Added visual meters to the loading and scaling operations.
- Also added on/off control for this to the new Clay.Ini file.
-
- * Added mouse controls to the new Clay.Ini file for fine tuning
- the mouse movement and speed.
-
- * Changed the format of saving POV-Ray PolyRay files, so that
- the camera, textures, etc. are in a .POV or .PI file and the
- actual triangle data is in a .INC file. This allows all
- editing to be performed on the .POV file and no the larger
- .INC file.

- Quick Start
-
- For those of us that hate reading documentation, this section will
- provide all the information to get Clay Sculpture up and running
- in the quickest time.
-
- 1.) Create a subdirectory called Clay (or what ever you like ...)
-
- 2.) Copy the CLAY.ZIP file into that subdirectory.
-
- 3.) Using PKZIP version 2.04g or higher, unzip the file. (You do
- not need to use the -d option, there's no subdirectories to
- be created...)
-
- 4.) Once this is completed, go to the DOS prompt and type in CLAY
- and press return.
-
- 5.) Once the program executes, use the Load button to import a
- RAW triangle data file.
-
- 6.) Using the Setup menu buttons, orient the object as desired,
- then press OK. (The 3D Scale will reduce or increase the
- object, so that it fits inside the cube.)
-
- 7.) At this point you will need to refer to the full CLAY.DOC for
- clarification of the menu buttons, how to move points, etc.,
- or just have fun figuring it out.<grin>
