  8.     NetParLpr is a Lpr compatible Client for the Amiga. With
  9. it you can print to Unix Print servers, Network Ready printers,
  10. TCP/IP Print Servers, and properly prepared Windows machines
  11. (must have LPD service installed).

  13. This Client offers:
  14.  
  15.         * RFC-1179 Compatible. This is the BSD Line Printer
  16.           protocol. Don't let the term "Line Printer" fool
  17.           you, graphics prints are also handled in this
  18.           protocol.
  19.  
  20.         * 68000 through 68060 support.
  21.  
  22.         * Local Print Spooling. User selects where the
  23.           spooling directory is.
  24.  
  25.         * Can be configured with the prt42_50.lha printer
  26.           device for easy use. With this setup, it is
  27.           very easy to change network printers just by
  28.           bouncing into preferences. (This is the
  29.           suggested installation method!)

  31.         * Multiple printer support.
  32.  
  33.         * Users are informed of errors through extensive use
  34.           of the Amiga System Messages.
  35.  
  36.         * Offline printing (Can print when network is down and
  37.           prints will be sent when network goes back online).

  39.         * Easy installation - Complete installer script.

  41.         * Easier removal - Installer script comes with a heavily
  42.           tested "Remove" option.

  44.         * 10 Testers worked out my bugs. See docs for information on

  51. NOTE: This Client is NOT compatible with the Current NetPar Server or
  52. the TestPar programs. I am working on the Server but decided to release
  53. this client as a stand alone program for now. There seams to be a need for
  54. the functionality this client provides. If you need to use this client and
  55. also need to print to another Amiga, I would suggest that you use the
  56. lpd.lha package by Juergen Schubert  (on AmiNET) to replace the NetPar
  57. Server. This client has been tested with the lpd.lha program...

  60.    Windows 95/NT success has been reported using the Chameleon NFS software.
  61. So far, no one has tried to use the MicroSoft LPD Service with NetParLpr. If
  62. you can test this setup, please write to me and let me know if you are
  63. successful. After the two months I have put into this client, I will be
  64. very suprised if you can't.....but since when does Micro$oft follow the
  65. RFC's.....

  67.    Finally a BIG CUDOS to an old Friend of mine, Rodney Myers. A former Amiga
  68. owner with a justified hatred of Microsoft, lent to me the use of his 133 Mhz
  69. Pentium Laptop, installed with RedHat Linux 4.2. Without this machine, I
  70. would STILL be trying to find a Priveledged Socket error in my code.....
