  1. Short:    A powerfull and full-featured backup program

  7. ABackup is a program which allows you to backup data from your hard disk. It
  8. can be used on any Amiga model, providing you have Kickstart V37 or  higher,
  9. and at least 1 Mb of memory.

  11. ABackup has all the features you might expect from such a program:
  12.  
  13.   - Both full and selective backup and restore operations  (you  can  select
  14.     the files by name, by date, by protection bits, but also one by one)
  15.  
  16.   - Backup to floppy disks, to partitions (for example a  SyQuest  cartrige)
  17.     or to an archive  file.  Optional  data  compression,  data  encryption,
  18.     verification, and archive bit setting.
  19.  
  20.   - Restore to  any  directory,  with  or  without  restoring  the  original
  21.     directory tree, and handling of already existing  files.  Optional  date
  22.     and empty directories restore.

  24.   - Backup of non-AmigaDOS partitions (PC, Mac, UNIX, ...)

  26.   - Optional report file for all operations

  30. However, ABackup is not just one more  backup  program.  This  program  also
  31. provides unusual features, like:
  32.  
  33.   - Transparent support of High Density floppy disks. Cyclic utilisation  of
  34.     several disks drives. Supports mixing of Double Density and High Density
  35.     floppy disks. Transparent support of the "diskspare.device".
  36.  
  37.   - Asynchronous writes for maximal backup speed
  38.  
  39.   - Data compression can be performed by the "xpk.library"  or  an  external
  40.     program. Automatic exclusion of files already compressed.

  42.   - Allows full operation automatization : you can,  for  example,  start  a
  43.     backup just with a double-click over an icon.
  44.  
  45.   - Lots of controls, in order to avoid data loss due to handling errors.

  47.   - Supports of the "MultiUserFileSystem" :  access  rights  and  owner  are
  48.     automatically backed up. When restoring files to a  partition  which  is
  49.     managed by this filesystem, theses informations  will  be  automatically
  50.     restored.

  52. This new version is offering full support for removable disk systems, like
  53. SyQuest, ZIP and Jaz units. This lets you use such systems as large floppy
  54. disks, so your backup will only require a very few removable disks instead
  55. of a huge pile of floppies. Of course, it will also be much faster.
