  23.   ZIP'R (pronounced "zipper") Pro is a hard drive utility designed to
  24.   automatically decompress an entire program before it is executed, launch
  25.   the program, and compress it after it is exited, all accomplished within
  26.   the Windows environment.  This process saves valuable hard drive space by
  27.   storing programs in compressed form when they are not in use.  ZIP'R Pro
  28.   even achieves a substantial amount of compression on hard drives that
  29.   already use an on-the-fly compression program, such as Stacker, SuperStor,
  30.   or DoubleSpace!  ZIP'R Pro can use an existing compression program such as
  31.   PKZIP / PKUNZIP, ARJ, or LHA, or it can use internal compression routines
  32.   that are compatible with PKZIP 2.0!

  43.   online to assist you with setting up ZIP'R Pro and using it properly.  In
  44.   order to receive printed documentation, you MUST register.

  73.   Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before buying
  74.   it.  If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you are
  75.   expected to register.  Individual programs differ on details - some
  76.   request registration while others require it, some specify a maximum trial
  77.   period.  With registration, you get anything from the simple right to
  78.   continue using the software to an updated program with printed manual.

  80.   Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and the
  81.   copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific exceptions as
  82.   stated below.  Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just like
  83.   commercial authors, and the programs are of comparable quality.  (In both
  84.   cases, there are good programs and bad ones!)  The main difference is in
  85.   the method of distribution.  The author specifically grants the right to
  86.   copy and distribute the software, either to all or to a specific group.
  87.   For example, some authors require written permission before a commercial
  88.   disk vendor may copy their Shareware.

  91.   find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's
  92.   commercial or Shareware.  The Shareware system makes fitting your needs
  93.   easier, because you can try before you buy.  And because the overhead is
  94.   low, prices are low also.  Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee
  95.   - if you don't use the product, you don't pay for it.

  115.   ZIP'R Professional For Windows is a "shareware program" and is provided at
  116.   no charge to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your
  117.   friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of another
  118.   system.  The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal
  119.   computer users with quality software without high prices, and yet to
  120.   provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products.  If
  121.   you find this program useful and find that you are using ZIP'R Pro and
  122.   continue to use ZIP'R Pro after a reasonable trial period, you must make a
  123.   registration payment of $49.95 (+S&H) to Stevenson Technical Services,
  124.   Inc. (STSI).  This registration fee will license one copy for use on any

  132.   book.  An example is that this software may be used by any number of
  133.   people and may be freely moved from one computer location to another, so
  134.   long as there is no possibility of it being used at one location while
  135.   it's being used at another.  Just as a book cannot be read by two
  136.   different persons at the same time, ZIP'R Pro should not be used on two
  137.   different computers at the same time.

  139.   Commercial users of ZIP'R Professional For Windows must register and pay
  140.   for their copies of ZIP'R Professional For Windows within 30 days of first
  141.   use or their license is withdrawn.  Site-License arrangements may be made
  142.   by contacting STSI at (218) 924-2050.

  144.   Anyone distributing ZIP'R Pro for any kind of remuneration must first
  145.   contact STSI for authorization.  This authorization will be automatically
  146.   granted to distributors recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its
  147.   guidelines for shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin
  148.   offering ZIP'R Pro immediately.  (However STSI must still be advised so
  149.   that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latest version of
  150.   ZIP'R Pro.)

  152.   You are encouraged to pass a copy of ZIP'R Pro along to your friends for
  153.   evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their copy if they find
  154.   that they can use it.  All registered users will receive a copy of the
  155.   latest version of the ZIP'R Pro, along with a printed manual and bonus

  180.   Backup First!
  181.   The first step in testing a new piece of software is to perform a backup
  182.   and test its integrity.  Since ZIP'R Pro will compress entire directories
  183.   into a single file, your potential losses are much greater if this file
  184.   becomes lost or corrupted.

  186.   The Installation Program
  187.   From Program Manager, select File, Run.  Browse for files, log to the
  188.   drive and directory where you are installing ZIP'R Pro from, and execute
  189.

  195.   "SETUP.EXE".  (Note to OS/2 users only:  When installing ZIP'R Pro from a
  196.   floppy diskette, make sure that the floppy diskette is not write-
  197.   protected, or the install process could report errors.  There appears to
  198.   be a conflict in this area (only under OS/2), and we are currently working
  199.   on resolving it.)  The ZIP'R Pro For Windows installation program will ask
  200.   you where you are installing ZIP'R Pro from (usually, the current
  201.   directory), and the location where the program files should be stored.
  202.   (The default destination directory is C:\ZPROWIN.)  If you are upgrading
  203.   from a previous version, ZIP'R Pro will issue a warning before overwriting
  204.   the ZPROWIN.INI file.  If you have already set up your registration
  205.   information and user preferences in the ZPROWIN.INI file, answer "N" (No)
  206.   to instruct ZIP'R Pro not to overwrite this file.  When ZIP'R Pro prompts
  207.   you for your Windows directory, enter the directory where you normally
  208.   store any .PIF files that are used for DOS programs under Windows.  (This
  209.   is typically the C:\WINDOWS directory.)  ZIP'R Pro will also need to place
  210.   the file BWCC.DLL in the Windows system sub-directory.  (This is typically
  211.   the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM sub-directory.)  When the installation is complete,
  212.   ZIP'R Pro will create a program manager group and icon, and exit.

  214.   ZIP'R Pro can be installed on any drive in your system, including network
  215.   drives.

  217.   Important!
  218.   Be sure to include a SET ZPROWIN=N:\ZPROWIN statement (or wherever you put
  219.   ZIP'R Pro), in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.  If this environment variable is
  220.   not found, ZIP'R Pro defaults to using the C:\ZPROWIN sub-directory.  (If
  221.   either of those directories cannot be found on your system, the current
  222.   directory is used.)  Also make sure that you reboot your computer after
  223.   making this change to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to ensure that the changes
  224.   have taken effect.

  232.   ZIP'R Pro is distributed under the shareware concept.  You may try ZIP'R
  233.   Pro for a period of two weeks.  After this period, you must either
  234.   discontinue using it, or register it.  A single-user license is only
  235.   $49.95 (+$5.00 S&H in the U.S., or $12.50 S&H on Foreign Orders).  This
  236.   price includes a printed manual, 3 1/2" and 5 1/4" diskettes, along with a
  237.   Registration Name and Number allowing you to register your copy of ZIP'R
  238.   Pro.

  240.   To receive a temporary registration number over the telephone, call STSI
  241.   at (218) 924-2050, and charge it to your Visa, MasterCard, American
  242.   Express, or Discover credit card.  Upon request, you will receive a
  243.   temporary registration name and number over the telephone that can be used
  244.   until you receive your actual registration package in the mail.  This will
  245.   allow the modification and/or removal of the prelog delay time, along with
  246.   any nag screens.
