  2. This electronic newsletter is being displayed with XL2000.  This is a test
  3. copy of the program, and you may distribute it with your own electronic publi-
  4. cation on a trial basis for 30 days.  When you become a registered user you
  5. will receive a licensed copy plus an entire collection of mastheads (titles).
  6. Press F1 to display all the XL2000 commands.  As this demo continues you will
  7. also see another program, XL2001.  A trial copy of it is included for you.

  9.                             FEATURES OF THE XL2000
  10.                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  11. An electronic newsletter, book, magazine, catalog, or brochure will operate
  12. with these features when it is displayed with XL2000:
  13.  
  14. 1. AutoScroll - Everyone loves AutoScroll. Press the F9 function key now, and
  15. watch a truly hands-free electronic publication become a reality.  The text
  16. scrolls upwards at an easily adjusted rate.  Change speed with plus or minus
  17. keys.  You may think you are seated at a computer on the Starship Enterprise!

  19. 2. File Change - One-touch file change is practical and fun. Make as many dif-
  20. ferent electronic publications as you like.  Each may have a different title.
  21. While publication "A" is on-screen press F6 to switch to publication "B." Move
  22. ahead to "C" with F6 or back to "A" with F5.  The Digital Publishing Associa-
  23. tion uses XL2001, and this feature, for its annual anthology of the DPA News.

  25. 3.  Color Change - Try it now!  Press right or left cursor control keys (arrow
  26. keys) to see your text change color.  The reader may quickly select the color
  27. of his choice.  Choose black, blue, green, brown, yellow, magenta and more.

  29. 4.  DOS Shell - Press F2 to drop out of the program for computer chores.
  30. Maybe you learned a fact from the on-screen publication, and you want to put
  31. the information in another document on your disk.  Type EXIT to return here.
  32.  
  33. 5.  "Hide, the boss is coming!" - Press F7 and instantly your screen goes
  34. blank.  Use this to hide sensitive material or to blank the screen while away
  35. from your computer.  Press F7 again to instantly re-display the publication.

  37. 6.  Fancy Dissolves - Everyone likes the visual effects of the "sweeps,"
  38. "swaps" and "dissolves" which occur when changing files with F6.  You will see
  39. similar effects when using F2 and F7 as well.

  41. 7.  Mouse Scroll - This is not a feature of XL2000 which is operating now, but
  42. when you use the XL2001 the mouse will work.  The mouse buttons switch files,
  43. and the mouse scrolls the text.   ~~~~

  45. 8.  Jumbo Fonts - When you register, be sure to order the program AutoFont
  46. along with the XL programs.  AutoFont is by far the best jumbo font making
  47. program, and with it you will be able to type words which look exactly ...

  53. 9.  Print File - If a hard copy of the text is needed, the reader simply
  54. turns on the printer and presses F8 to print the file.

  56. 10.  Want a smiling face?    It's easy with the registered version!

  58. To receive your XL programs and all the goodies as soon as possible, after you
  59. exit type COPY REGISTER.TXT PRN <Enter>.  Registration includes your own per-
  60. sonal copy of XL-2000.EXE and/or XL-2001.EXE and a license to distribute the
  61. program(s) with your electronic publication(s) for non-commercial use for 5
  62. years from the date of registration.  A commercial license is available for
  63. those who will use the XL2000 or XL2001 for on-screen catalogs and publica-
  64. tions for which a fee is charged.  See REGISTER.TXT for details.
