  32.  DESCRIPTION:

  35.    This application is a standard File Transfer Protocol (FTP) client 
  36.    application for Windows Sockets.  The user interface for this FTP 
  37.    client is designed with the novice FTP user in mind.  Usage should 
  38.    be obvious.  For more information on FTP please refer to the many
  39.    different NETNEWS groups or one of the recent books on the Internet.

  41.    WS_FTP also provides for automatic downloads of files.  See HLP file
  42.    for information on "Auto Transfer of Files".

  44.    WS_FTP32 is the 32 bit version of WS_FTP for Windows NT and  
  45.    Windows 3.x with Win32s.  The benefit of running WS_FTP32 vs
  46.    WS_FTP is unknown on the Windows 3.x platform (other than it is all
  47.    32 bit code).  The benefit of running WS_FTP32 on Windows NT 
  48.    is that it is multi-threaded on these platforms.

  51.  REQUIREMENTS:

  54.    WS_FTP requires you to have a properly installed WINSOCK.DLL 
  55.    and requires Windows 3.1 or later.  WS_FTP32 requires Windows NT
  56.    or Win32s 1.15 (or later) installed on Windows 3.1

  58.    WS_FTP requires a 286 processor, WS_FTP32 requires a 386 processor.

  60.  INSTALLATION:

  63.    YOU MUST HAVE A PROPERLY INSTALLED WINSOCK.DLL FOR THIS APPLICATION
  64.    TO WORK.  REFER TO YOUR WINSOCK.DLL DOCUMENTATION FOR SETUP!!

  66.    1. Create a directory for this program and copy WS_FTP.EXE, 
  67.       WS_FTP.INI, WS_FTP.EXT and WS_FTP.HLP to that directory.

  69.    2. Create an ICON in any Program Manager group.
  70.       a. Use the File Manager and drag the program into a Program
  71.          Manager group.
  72.       b. Use [F]ile [N]ew in the Program Manager.

  100.    /pub/msdos/winsock.files/ws_ftp.zip on ftp.usma.edu (129.29.64.246).
  101.    To access it, enter 129.29.64.246 as the host name and check the
  102.    "anonymous login" box in the WS_FTP connect dialog box.

  104.    The latest version is usually uploaded winftp.cica.indiana.edu in
  105.    the /pub/pc/win3/winsock directory as ws_ftp.zip.

  107.    A test Windows NT version of this program may be found as 
  108.    ws_ftp32.zip on ftp.usma.edu.

  110.    Beta versions are only available from ftp.usma.edu in the /pub/msdos
  111.    directory as ws_ftp.zip.beta

  116.  BUG REPORTS, SUGGESTIONS, ETC...

  119.    If you connect to a host that WS_FTP doesn't recognize (i.e. listboxes
  120.    remain blank or are displayed incorrectly).

  122.    1. Try the different host types that are listed in the options dialog
  123.       box.  (the change takes affect immediately, you do not need to 
  124.       change directories, etc..)
  125.  
  126.    2. If you can't find one that displays the directory correctly, then:

  128.       a.  click on the LogWnd button and save the message log to a file
  129.       b.  click on the remote side DirInfo button and save the contents
  130.           to a different file.
  131.       c.  mail both files to "junodj@css583.gordon.army.mil"
