  8. On This Day for Windows is a collection of databases with an easy-to-use
  9. Microsoft Windows access program.  The user selects the date in which he or
  10. she is interested.  On This Day for Windows then reads a group of databases,
  11. sending the output to either a window or a disk file.
  12.  
  13. Since the databases are simply text files and their format is completely
  14. documented, you can make changes and additions using your favorite text
  15. editor or word processor.  On This Day for Windows will read an extra file if
  16. it exists so you can enter all your own personal events into a separate file
  17. or mix them with the other data in the provided files.

  19. On This Day for Windows can handle dates in the Gregorian, Hebrew, Islamic,
  20. and Julian calendars.  This makes it possible to specify Jewish and Islamic
  21. holidays as well as the ones corresponding to the calendar most of us use
  22. every day.

  24. On This Day for Windows can determine a day of the week on which the date
  25. requested falls.  This enables the user to specify holidays like Memorial Day
  26. (last Monday in May).

  28. On This Day for Windows calculates the date for Easter in the year requested,
  29. allowing the specification of all the Christian holidays.

  31. On This Day for Windows calculates the phases of the moon, solstices and
  32. equinoxes, and flags lunar eclipses.

  34. Probably best of all, On This Day for Windows comes with a collection of data
  35. ready to use with the program.  Some small sample databases are included in
  36. the evalutation copy of On This Day.  HUGE databases (more than 16,700
  37. events) will be provided upon registration along with the latest version of
  38. the program and a collection of utilities we've found useful.
