  12. The ID LOGIC (R) World Time Clock indicates the current time
  13. in most timezones around the world and takes Summer Time
  14. (DST) automatically into account (both in the Northern- and
  15. Southern-hemisphere). In addition, the clock - which is fully
  16. dynamic - indicates clearly the date division.
  17.  
  18. A Conference Time function allows you to ask the question
  19. At what LOCAL time should I call city X to reach it at its
  20. time Y? (DST is taken into account, so you must also give the date.)
  21.  
  22. Five separate multimedia alarms are provided for which are
  23. remembered whenever you reboot Windows. These can be set to
  24. activate (once, hourly, daily, weekly, etc.) either a beep
  25. signal, a WAV file, a voice recording you can make yourself,
  26. a MIDI sequence or an AVI video file.
  27.  
  28. Although a large number of cities are already pre-programmed,
  29. you can define and position up to nine custom city labels yourself.

  31. The ID LOGIC World Time Clock is also part (albeit in a more
  32. rudimentary form) of the ID LOGIC Shortwave Simulator for Windows
  33. which simulates the shortwave receiver of the (near) future which
  34. will permit the automatic scanning for a station by name, language,
  35. schedule and other attributes.

  37. The ID LOGIC SW Simulator can be downloaded via the Internet from
  38. the anonymous ftp site hk.net (shareware/prs/ID_SWxxx.ZIP).

  40. It contains the schedules of the BBC World Service, the VoA,
  41. and some of the other largest shortwave broadcasters.

  43. ALL SCHEDULES WERE PROVIDED BY THE BROADCASTERS THEMSELVES.

  45. By popular demand, the World Time Clock has been made into
  46. a stand-alone application requiring less resources than
  47. the full Simulator.

  50. Minimum Requirements

  53. The ID LOGIC World Time Clock for MS Windows requires the following:
  54.  
  55.     - IBM PC compatible machine;
  56.     - MS Windows Version 3.1 or later;
  57.     - Microsoft (or compatible) mouse;
  58.     - Display minimum: 540x480 x 256 colors (64k colors preferred);
  59.     - VBRUN300.DLL in the /Windows/System subdirectory.
  60.       NOTE: If you do not already have VBRUN300.DLL, you can 
  61.       download it with FTP from hk.net (look for VBRUN300.ZIP
  62.       in the /shareware/prs directory.)
  63.       Do this BEFORE running SETUP.EXE

  66. Very Brief History

  69. ID LOGIC is a scanning/tuning system which permits the user to
  70.  
  71.   1) automatically identify any tuned-in station
  72.   2) scan for a station by station attribute such as format
  73.     (e.i. type of music), callsign, language, etc.
  74.  
  75. PRS started to develop ID LOGIC in 1986. The first product was the
  76. ID LOGIC Module for AM/FM radio receivers for use in North America
  77. (which is today - 1994 - on the N.Am market in several radios).
  78.  
  79. We have already licensed SONY, MATSUSHITA (Panasonic/Technics),
  80. PIONEER, KENWOOD, ALPINE, SANYO, CLARION, JVC, and others.
  81. You should see a whole bunch of ID LOGIC models hit the market in '95.

  83. An AM/FM ID LOGIC Simulator containing most of the 14,000+ North
  84. American AM/FM stations is also available as shareware from
  85. the anonymous ftp server hk.net (/shareware/prs/ID_NAxxx.ZIP).

  87. In 1993, ID LOGIC was integrated in the Radio Broadcast Data System
  88. (RBDS) standard issued by the National Radio Systems Committee (NRSC)
  89. on January 8, 1993. (This is the U.S. version of the European
  90. RDS standard.)

  92. Since 1992 we have been working with the BBC World Service and the Voice
  93. of America to develop an ID LOGIC version for shortwave receivers.
  94. This informal open consortium has since been joined by Radio France
  95. Internationale, Radio Canada International and we expect it will soon
  96. grow very rapidly. (Stay tuned.)

  98. There, the idea is to permit SW listeners to tune to a station by
  99. pressing at most two buttons (one for the desired broadcaster,
  100. the other for the desired language). The consortium is conducting
  101. tests to establish the best mode to automatically update the
  102. in-receiver databases which form the basis of ID LOGIC.
