  12. The ID LOGIC (R) Simulator for Windows ("Software") simulates
  13. ID LOGIC receivers which permit scanning for stations by type
  14. of music ("Format-Scanning") and which offer automatic
  15. identification of station by name, location and format.
  16.  
  17. ID LOGIC receivers can perform these functions for all
  18. stations in BOTH AM and FM (unlike RDS which is limited
  19. to FM.)
  20.  
  21. Such receivers are being introduced to the North American
  22. market by our licensees (see below) - mostly in car radios.
  23.  
  24. ID LOGIC receivers contain an in-receiver database which
  25. can be updated by the broadcasters themselves (ID LOGIC "RDS")
  26. and/or by the user (ID LOGIC) with a few keystokes.
  27.  
  28. This Simulator contains the data describing most North American
  29. stations (more than 14,000 stations).

  31. All raw stations data is exclusively licensed from M Street Corp.
  32.  
  33. An ID LOGIC Shortwave Simulator is also available, as well as
  34. the ID LOGIC World Time Clock - see below.

  37. Minimum Requirements

  40. The ID LOGIC Simulator for MS Windows requires the following:
  41.  
  42.     - IBM PC compatible machine;
  43.     - MS Windows Version 3.1 or later;
  44.     - Microsoft (or compatible) mouse;
  45.     - Display minimum: 540x480 x 256 colors (64k preferred);
  46.     - VBRUN300.DLL and DDEML.DLL in the /Windows/System subdirectory.
  47.       NOTE: If you do not already have VBRUN300.DLL or DDEML.DLL,
  48.       you can download them with FTP from hk.net (look for VBRUN300.ZIP
  49.       and DDEML.ZIP in the /shareware/prs directory.)
  50.       Do this BEFORE running SETUP.EXE

  53. Very Brief History
  54. ------------------

  56. ID LOGIC is a scanning/tuning system which permits the user to
  57.  
  58.   1) automatically identify any tuned-in station
  59.   2) scan for a station by station attribute such as format
  60.     (e.i. type of music), callsign, language, etc.
  61.  
  62. PRS started to develop ID LOGIC in 1986. The first product was the
  63. ID LOGIC Module for AM/FM radio receivers for use in North America
  64. (which is today - 8/1994 - on the N.Am market in several radios).
  65.  
  66. We have already licensed SONY, MATSUSHITA (Panasonic/Technics),
  67. PIONEER, KENWOOD, ALPINE, SANYO, CLARION, JVC, and others.
  68. You should see a whole bunch of ID LOGIC models hit the market in '95.

  70. In 1993, ID LOGIC "RDS" was integrated in the Radio Broadcast Data System
  71. (RBDS) standard issued by the National Radio Systems Committee (NRSC)
  72. on January 8, 1993. (This is the U.S. version of the European
  73. RDS standard.)

  75. Since 1992 we have been working with the BBC World Service and the Voice
  76. of America to develop an ID LOGIC version for shortwave receivers.
  77. This open consortium has since been joined by Radio France
  78. Internationale and we expect it will soon grow rapidly. (Stay tuned.)

  80. There, the idea is to permit SW listeners to tune to a station by
  81. pressing at most two buttons (one for the desired broadcaster,
  82. the other for the desired language). The consortium is conducting
  83. tests to establish the best mode to automatically update the
  84. in-receiver databases which form the basis of ID LOGIC.

  86. An ID LOGIC "SW" Simulator is available via the Internet:

  93.     - Deutsche Welle

  95. ALL SCHEDULES WERE PREPARED BY THE BROADCASTERS THEMSELVES.

  133. The source code, object code and associated materials are all
  134. Copyrighted (C) 1994 PRS Corporation.

  136. PRS Corporation is the owner of all the property rights of
  137. ID LOGIC, ID LOGIC SW, ID LOGIC "RDS", the ID LOGIC Simulators
  138. and all application software first available on the anonymous
  139. ftp server hk.net (/shareware/prs).
