  1. |15Help on using the menu system
  2.  
  3. |07Fractals Plus uses a set of buttons down the side of the screen to act as
  4. a menu. These buttons can be activated by pressing the |15left mouse button|07
  5. when the mouse cursor is over them. If you are using the keyboard pressing
  6. |15[Tab]|07 will bring up a highlight on the first button. This can then be
  7. moved around using the cursor keys. Pressing |15[Enter]|07 will then
  8. activate that button.
  9.  
  10. The buttons are arranged as follows:

  12. |10          Return to previous image    File functions
  13. |10          Zoom out                    Advanced functions
  14. |10          Display Mandelbrot set      Help index
  15. |10          Print                       Exit

  19. |10Return to previous image:|07 Fractals Plus will remember the previous image
  20. displayed on screen. Provided you have not been to a text mode screen you can
  21. return to this image by selecting this button. If it is not possible Fractals
  22. Plus will beep.
  23.  
  24. |10Zoom out:|07 Selecting this will draw a new image, with a range twice that of
  25. the current image. The current image will be contained in the centre quarter
  26. of the new screen. It is not possible to zoom out further than a range of 4.
  27. (See the help on Zooming in and out for more details).

  29. |10Display Mandelbrot set:|07 This will return you to the original image of the
  30. Mandelbrot set which was displayed on startup.
  31.  
  32. |10Print:|07 This option will allow you to print the current image to a range
  33. of printers. You will be asked to select a print driver and a port to print
  34. to. You should select the print driver which most closely matches your
  35. printer, or an emulation your printer supports. The selection of port allows
  36. you to send the data to the correct port for the printer, useful if you are
  37. running on a network, or to a file. For most machines however the default
  38. option, LPT1, will be the one that the printer is connected to.

  40. |10File functions:|07 In this unregistered version this will take you to a 
  41. screen which will allow you to select a file to load. Use the |15[Tab]|07 key
  42. to move between the different fields, and the cursor keys to move within the
  43. field. Press |15[Enter]|07 to load the file (or cancel if the cancel button is
  44. selected). In the registered version you would also have an option to save 
  45. the current image to a disk file.

  47. |10Advanced functions:|07 This will take you to another submenu, which contains
  48. the following options:
  49.      ■  View information on current image
  50.      ■  Type in coordinates for a new image
  51.      ■  Cycle the colour palette (press any key to stop it)
  52.      ■  Use the square filling algorithm for future images
  53.      ■  Use the line filling algorithm for future images
  54.      ■  Return to main menu

  59. |10Exit:|07 This will return you to whatever operating system you were using
  60. before you started Fractals Plus.

  62. |10Iterations:|07 These are not actually controlled by the menu but are dealt
  63. with here. The more iterations you use the more "accurate" the resulting
  64. image will be, but the longer your computer will have to think about it. To
  65. alter the number of iterations press the |15left mouse button|07 on the two
  66. spinner buttons next to the iterations counter, at the bottom of the menu.
  67. If you are using the keyboard then you can use the |15[Page up]|07 and
  68. |15[Page Down]|07 keys.
