  3. Shareware is copyrighted software which is distributed by authors
  4. through bulletin boards, on-line services, disk vendors, and by
  5. copies being passed among friends. It is commercial software that
  6. you are allowed to try before  you pay for it. This makes shareware
  7. the ultimate in money back guarantees.

  9. Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. There
  10. is good and bad shareware just as there is good and bad retail
  11. software. The primary difference between shareware and retail
  12. software is that with shareware you know if its good or bad before
  13. you pay for it.

  15. You benefit because you get to use the software to determine
  16. whether it meets your needs, before you pay for it. Authors benefit
  17. because they are able to get their products into your hands without
  18. the expenses it takes to launch a traditional retail software
  19. product.
