PLAN DISPLAY:
A PLAN DISPLAY OF THE CORRIDOR IS ALWAYS LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM LEFT OF THE
SCREEN, WITH YOUR SUB AND YOUR SECRET BASE INDICATED.
THE Z DIMENSION:
IN ADDITION TO THE X AND Y DIMENSIONS, YOU MUST KEEP TRACK OF THE THIRD,
DEPTH DIMENSION, Z. THE Z SCALE IS CALIBRATED IN NAUTICAL MILES, WITH
SEA SURFACE LEVEL AT Z=0, DEPTHS BELOW THE SURFACE <0, AND DEPTHS ABOVE
THE SURFACE>0.
THE SEA HAS A MAXIMUM DEPTH OF 0.9 NAUTICAL MILES (Z=-0.9), AND IN ADDITION,
ANTI-SUBMARINE WARFARE (ASW) HELICOPTERS CAN REACH AN ALTITUDE OF 0.9 NMI

SUBSURFACE MANEUVERS.
BOTH ENGINES HAVE A MAX SPEED OF .6 NMI/MIN = 36 NMI/HR IN THE X-Y PLANE,
BUT THE SUB CAN ONLY TURN A MAX OF 45 DEGREES/MIN IN THAT PLANE. THE SPEED
IN THE Z DIRECTION IS INDEPENDENT OF THAT IN THE X-Y PLANE, AND IS FIXED
AT .1 NMI/HR UP OR DOWN (OR CRUISE AT CONSTANT Z).

GUNS WITH A RANGE OF 20 NMI.
o THE SUBS HAVE TORPEDOES WHICH ARE JUST AS GOOD AS YOURS.
o THE HELIS CAN FIRE ROCKETS AT SURFACE TARGETS (RANGE 10 NMI) OR
LAUNCH DEPTH CHARGES INTO THE SEA FOR SUBSURFACE TARGETS.
THE ENEMY SUBS CAN ONLY MAKE 2/3 OF THE SPEED OF FLEET SEAWOLF, BUT THE HELIS
CAN MOVE AT 3 TIMES ITS SPEED.
PERISCOPE:
YOU HAVE A PERISCOPE THAT CAN BE USED WHEN YOUR DEPTH IS -.1 OR
GREATER. IT DOES NOT WORK IN THE DARK.
WARNING: IF YOU RUN BELOW SHALLOW DEPTHS WITH YOUR PERISCOPE RAISED,
IT MIGHT GET DAMAGED.
NOTE: WHEN YOUR PERISCOPE IS ABOVE WATER, YOU CAN BE SPOTTED FROM
5 NMI AWAY, BUT IF YOU HAVE SURFACED, THAT BECOMES 20 NMI.
SONAR:
YOU HAVE A SONAR THAT CAN PING ONCE A MINUTE. IF YOU ARE PINGING,
HOWEVER, ALL ENEMY VESSELS CAN MORE ACCURATELY TARGET YOU.

YOUR SONAR DISPLAY CONSISTS OF A RADIAL DISPLAY COMBINED WITH A
DEPTH INDICATION. (THE SEAWOLF IS ALWAYS AT THE CENTER.)
EACH SONAR "CELL" IS REPRESENTED BY ONE OF THE "DOTS": A TARGET
IN THE CELL IS REPRESENTED BY A NUMBER REPRESENTING THE DEPTH
(0-9: BOLD FACE MEANS BELOW WATER.)
THE SONAR SCALE FACTOR IN THE UPPER RT HAND CORNER OF THE DISPLAY
GIVES THE NUMBER OF NAUTICAL MILES REPRESENTED BY EACH CELL
(0.25 TO 16).
WEAPONS:
YOUR WEAPONS INCLUDE TORPEDOES, SURFACE-TO-AIR MISSILES (SAMS),
AND TOPSIDE GUNS WHICH CAN ONLY BE FIRED WHEN YOU ARE SURFACED
(THEY ARE USEFUL ONLY AGAINST HELICOPTERS AT A RANGE <= 5 NMI).

=90 NMI/HR AND A MAXIMUM RANGE OF 15 NMI (10 PINGS).
F2 FIRE SURFACE-TO-AIR MISSILES (UP TO 2 AT A TIME): THEY GO
STRAIGHT UP, THEN WHEN THEY BREAK THE SURFACE THEY RETARGET
STRAIGHT AT THE ENEMY.
NOTE: SAMS HAVE A MAX VELOCITY OF 4 NMI/MIN = 240 NMI/HR AND
A MAXIMUM RANGE OF 32 NMI (8 PINGS).
F3 CLIMB/CRUISE TOGGLE. (RATE IS PRESET AT .1 NMI/MIN)
WARNING: CRUSING AT A DEPTH OF <=-.8 MAY RESULT IN COLLISION WITH

(THE LARGER THE SCALE FACTOR, THE FARTHER YOU CAN SEE BUT THE LESS
DISCRIMINATING POWER BETWEEN NEARBY OBJECTS)
NOTE: "MAG" IS INITIALLY SET TO 1.5; THE FINAL SONAR SCALE FACTOR MUST
BE IN THE RANGE 0.25 TO 64.
NOTE: WHEN PERISCOPE AND SONAR ARE ON AT THE SAME TIME, THE DISPLAYS
ARE INTEGRATED.
NUMERAL 0: SET SONAR SCREEN SCALE FACTOR TO 1

SETTING THE COURSE & SPEED WITH THE ARROW KEYS (ON THE NUMERIC KEYPAD):
THE 4 ARROW KEYS MODIFY THE SPEED/COURSE CHANGE REQUEST REGISTER
(UP/DOWN ARROWS MODIFY THE SPEED, LEFT/RIGHT MODIFY THE COURSE).
TO REQUEST THAT THE SHIP'S COURSE AND SPEED ACTUALLY BE CHANGED
TO THE VALUE SPECIFIED IN THE SPEED/COURSE CHANGE REQUEST REGISTER,
HIT THE <ENTER> KEY (THAT WILL COMMAND THE SHIP TO BEGIN TO CHANGE ITS
COURSE AND SPEED TO THE REQUEST REGISTER VALUES).
