  4. This is the documentation for ANSWER.EXE the 1st answering machine for OS/2
  5. and rockwell based voice modems.
  6.  
  7. This release is a beta and will expire on - November 1st 1994 -. The purpose
  8. of this release is to get feedback, bug reports, enhancement tips and so on.
  9. When the expiration date passes, a shareware version will become available.
  10.  
  11. Please send me your bug reports and include as much information on your system
  12. setup as possible. And don't hesitate, even if you find a typo or misspelled
  13. word in one of the dialogs, let me know.

  15. I developped and tested ANSWER.EXE on the following system:

  17. - OS/2 2.11 (2.1 with CSD applied)
  18.  
  19. - 12 MBytes of RAM
  20.  
  21. - Complete Communicator Gold voice modem that responds with:

  54. Unzip the zipfile that contains:
  55.  
  56. ANSWER.EXE
  57. ANSWER.DLL
  58. README.TXT
  59. FILE_ID.DIZ
  60. GREETING.MSG

  62. into the same directory. Create a WPS program object and set the program name
  63. to: INSTALLPATH\answer.exe
  64. And the working directory to: INSTALLPATH
  65.  
  66. Where installpath is the path you installed the program to.

  73. I hate writing documentation, so I will keep it short:
  74.  
  75. The program works fairly simple, like a real answering machine you have to
  76. turn is ON or OFF. You can listen to incomming messages that appear in the main
  77. window, as well to older messages still stored on your Hard Disk (in the
  78. same directory as the program).
  79.  
  80. It is possible to select from COM1 to COM4. There is even a test button in the
  81. modem setup dialog that can fairly accurately test if the program can work with
  82. your modem.

  84. You can configure the program so that it turns ON on start up, as well as
  85. minimized or not.

  87. It is required that there is a greeting message that resides on your Hard Disk
  88. as: greeting.msg
  89. If it is missing you will be told so, and you will need to record a new one.
