Unarchive the files to a directory of your choice, I suggest SUMMA.
You will need these files to operate SUMMATION: SUMMA.EXE,
SUMMA.CFG, SUMMA.ANS, SUMTITLE.ANS, ONLINE.DOC, and RONLINE.DOC.
The $$SUM1$$.RIP file is used by a RIP capable terminal program
in the programs ICONS directory.
If not present PLAYER.DAT will be created by SUMMATION!.
SUMMATION! is compatible with DOOR.SYS, DORINFOx.DEF, and WILDCAT.
Supports higher IRQ settings, Digiboard, and Fossil drivers.
It was tested using PCBoard 15.0, DESQview 2.61, QEMM 386 7.01, and
Fossil drivers. Tested using PCBoard 15.0, OS/2, and Fossil drivers.
(Thanks Jeff!)
Program Usage:
SUMMA [C:\BBS\]filetype.ext [PORT:ioport#:irq#]
filetype.ext must be present. The path and the PORT command are
optional.
PORT Command Usage:
PORT allows you to set non-standard ports.
Supports Digiboard and FOSSIL drivers.
If PORT is not specified SUMMATION! will use the
STANDARD port found in the door information file.
Example for DOOR.SYS using standard ports:
SUMMA C:\BBS\DOOR.SYS
Example for DOOR.SYS using non-standard ports:
SUMMA C:\BBS\DOOR.SYS PORT:03E8:12 ;Non-standard port & irq 12.
Example for DORINFOx.DEF using FOSSIL drivers:
SUMMA C:\BBS\DORINFOx.DEF PORT:F:1 ;FOSSIL driver on port 1.
Example for CALLINFO.BBS using Digiboard:
SUMMA C:\WC\CALLINFO.BBS PORT:D:7 ;Digiboard channel 7.
Running SUMMATION! in local mode:
SUMMA C:\SUMMA\DOOR.SYS <or>
LOCAL
SUMMATION! is REAL-TIME multi-user capable. When opened SUMMATION!
will write files containing information used while playing the game.
These files are deleted when the user exits the game.
The names of these files are:
SUM#.PLR - Player information file.
SUM#.REQ - Game request file.
SUM#.RSP - Response to a request.
SUM#.MOV - Players move file.
SUM#.FLG - Flag file.
If a problem occurs that causes these files not to be removed
they can be deleted by hand without harming the game.
Please read ONLINE.DOC or RONLINE.DOC for information about
playing SUMMATION!.
SUMMA.CFG File Information:
For your registration key to work properly the first three
lines of your configuation file must be:
Sysop Name
BBS Name
Registration Key
The configuration file uses these verbs:
PDATE #
- Purge unused player accounts after # of days. The
default is 30 days.
Example:
PDATE 15 ;Purge unused accounts after 15 days.
TLSET (END)
- Allow you to make a script of time limit settings for
specified security levels. As many time limit settings
can be set as are required. The default for security
levels not specified is the users time remaining online.
Example:
TLSET ;Begin time limit script.
10 15 ;Security level 10 users have 15 minutes.
20 30 ;Security level 20 users have 30 minutes.
END ;End script.
MULTIPLE
- If you plan to use this program with a multitasker
like Desqview, OS/2, or Windows or with multiple
machines over a network in a multi-node environment
and would like the players to be able to play against
eachother use this verb. SHARE.EXE must be loaded in
order to use SUMMATION in this manner.
NOTE: When using SUMMATION with a multitasker it will
auto-detect what tasker is being used. This game is
designed to be "multitasker friendly" and will release
unused "ticks" to the multitasker. The multitasker
found will be displayed in the lower right corner
where normally "S U M M A T I O N" would appear.
CNAME (registered version only)
- Allows you to change and add to the 12 internal
computer names. These names can be up to 26 characters
in length. Up to 256 computer opponents can be set. The
shareware version of Summation supports 12 computer
opponents by default. This setup is good for a 6-8 line
BBS. It is recommend that you create 25% or more computer
opponents compared to the number of lines you have on
your system JUST IN CASE. If you have 16 lines create 20
or more computer opponents.
Example:
CNAME Aname Here ; Slot A would be "Aname Here"
CNAME Is A. Name ; Slot B would be "Is A. Name"
Thank you for evaluating SUMMATION!.
