  8. At this point, you *definitely* need a configured copy of PGP, to
  9. continue the unpacking process!  The program, dox files, and
  10. sample configuration file are all contained in a ZIP file, that
  11. is "masked" in the file PROGRAM.PGP.  This is to prevent weasel
  12. sysops from "automagically" converting the interal ZIP file to
  13. some oddball, pet format (invalidating the PGP signature, btw),
  14. adding any cute little BBS 'ads', or otherwise "molesting" the
  15. program archive.  The outer "shell" archive can be converted,
  16. added to, stuffed full of HOTSEX.NOW and ELITE.BBS adds, and
  17. otherwise "massaged" at the whim of the aformentioned weasels.
  18. But they will have to *manually* molest the program archive, and
  19. if anyone encounters this, *please* notify me, and we'll have
  20. some fun with the offender!:)  To "get to" the file,
  21. PROGRAM.ZIP, simply extract all the "main" archive to a scratch
  22. directory, and then while in that directory, type in:

  26. PGP will work a bit, and then create a second file, called
  27. PROGRAM.ZIP (you can delete PROGRAM.PGP at this point!), which
  28. you can then extract via your ZIP engine, normally.  For a *very*
  29. small measure of security, you can at this point, prior to
  30. extracting the files in PROGRAM.ZIP, invoke PGP a *second* time,
  31. so:

  35. When you do this, PGP will use the file PROGRAM.ASC to
  36. "authenticate" the file PROGRAM.ZIP, however, great faith should
  37. NOT be placed in this, UNLESS you have obtained my public
  38. keyfile from a *second*, independent source!  Any slick hacker
  39. could easily "substitute" his own public key in place of mine,
  40. and slip you ghod-only-knows-what.  Best bet, would be to take a
  41. quick trip to the Internet, and grab a copy of my public key
  42. from the MIT database of such, via Mosaic, WWWB, or even ftp,
  43. and get it *that* way, then you can be fairly sure you have the
  44. McCoy.  Or alternitively, you could request a copy of my public
  45. key from either of my  BBS's (download ZIEGLERS.KEY)
  46. (Rent-A-Tech BBS-[918]291-7201 Black Gold BBS-[918]272-7779).
  47. The file PROGRAM.ZIP is what you unZIP into your RoboMail
  48. directory, Dox files are in there, as well.
