Dear Sysops and Users,
A few notes:
GENERAL INFO:
MVBB has gone 21st century ;) . Instead of creating MVBB in the
TheDraw, Cory and I have put out heads together and programmed
a manager and maker in Turbo Pascal that will automate 90% of the
MVBB creation (all we do manually is obtain the info from sysops
and type it into the manager's database). Please bear with me through
the next couple of months, who knows what problems will arise with this
automation; however, it the end it will provide for a better overall
product.
The column MVBBOM is going to be discontinued, at least temporarily,
due to the time it takes to create it.
DISTRIBUTION:
You can receive MVBB automatically everytime it is released by
being on CFMMVBB (a dedicated file echo specifically for MVBB) or
being connected to the file echo BBSL_REG (see the Fidonet Filebone
for more information).
NOTE on CFMMVBB - All nodes that receive FidoNet in Net 2609 AND
in Net 260's Hub 500 are defaulted to receiving CFMMVBB; therefore,
if your favorite board that's on FidoNet doesn't carry this echo, it
is due to the Sysop's request to disconnect the echo. If your sysop
doesn't make this area available, ask him to set it up and hook in.
The file volume is EXTREMELY low... every copy of MVBB to date has
been under 20k! If you have any questions on CFMMVBB, contact Toby
Marsh at 1:2609/14.
MVBB is also FREQable from 1:2609/14 under the "magic filename" MVBB.
Users can get MVBB from Catfish Mecca or any board that receives it
through CFMMVBB.
SYSOP INFO FOR AUTOMATED BULLETINS:
MVBB's Archive is in the new format MV??????.ZIP. The ?????? is the
month, day, and year: ex. MV050194.ZIP is MVBB 5/01/94. The files
inside the archive such as MVBB.ANS, MVBB.ASC, & MVBB.TXT always have
the same file names for convience in automatically updating online
bulletins.
LOCAL CALLING PREFIXES:
There are 3 new files that replaced ROMEPREF.*; these are LOCPREF.*.
LOCPREF contains the same info as ROMEPREF except that it also
includes a Utica section (finally). All information is from the
phone book and I double checked it for accuracy; however, I'm not
responsible for any errors.
LASTLY:
One more thing, if the information on your board is incorrect or you
wish to be added to MVBB, feel free to let me know (preferably via
Fido Netmail), and I'll take care of it ASAP.
Please don't attempt to send changes or additions to Cory for the next
couple of months since he is not in the area. If you do send me
Netmail, don't leave it on hold on your system; I'll never get it.
Thank you for your Time,
Michael Streeter, 1:2609/14.1
