JETCOL33
JETCOL can now be used in landscape mode on most laser printer models.
JETCOL will now print from 1 to 6 columns per page. This is particularly useful
for printing labels and lists.
JETCOL will now allow a column width from 20 to 160 characters. The wider column
widths will be useful for landscape mode or printing one 160 character-wide
column across the page in portrait mode. Programmers will find the wider columns
userful for printing source code listings.
These features can be combined with the text width reformatting option -&R.
The -N option has been modified to allow independant control of which options
print at the lower left corner. See docs.
The -R right margin option has been modified to specify the right margin in
tenths of an inch rather than in spaces. Read JETCOL.DOC for more info.
Added -Y4 function to modify preset options without resetting all others.
JETCOL32
Added -# option to allow user specified printer setup string. This allows the
user to select features supported by some printer models such as scalable fonts,
duplex (two-sided) printing.
JETCOL31
Minor modifications for compatibility with 2MENU a new JETCOL interface for use
with MS-Windows. See PRODUCTS.DOC
JETCOL30
Added a -Y3 option to ignore custom default settings and, instead, use the
standard defaults. This is intended for use with the 2COL menu/editing
interface for MS Windows. It can also be used with WP and WFW macros. This
command is only relevant for registered users. For more information about the
new Menu interface see PRODUCTS.DOC.
Added option "-@" to print pages in reverse. This eliminates paper shuffling.
You can choose to print all or only the even or odd pages in reverse order.
Modified even/odd printing to allow printing either the even pages first or the
odd first. The -E option will now ask you if you want to print odd pages next.
Added option -&R to allow paragraph reformatting. This will allow the entire
width of a document to be expanded or contracted. This allows you to print
fewer characters per column, spreading the print out for better readability. It
is also useful when printing a narrow formatted document to better utilize the
full column width. This option is for registered users but unregistered users
can test it with the -K option.
Automargin has been modified to assume a document width equal to the reformat
setting specified rather than the actual document width. Automargin will assume
the wordwrap setting instead of the actual document width if the wordwrap
setting is less than the actual document width.
The escape character and the character following it are now deleted in wordwrap
mode. In standard mode the escape is converted to ASCII 254.
Now treats a single Carriage Return as a CR/LF.
Improved printing of Wordstar documents.
JETCOL27
Worked around compiler bug which caused -N option to not print page numbers.
Added macro to print from BOXER text editor
JETCOL26
Fix automargin bug which did not always provide the margin requested.
Added a page length adjustment to the -D (page delimit) function.
JETCOL25
Fix compatibility problems with DOS 6 and QEMM
JETCOL24
Support added for printing Wordstar files
Page length adjustment added for A4, legal, etc (-!xx).
JETCOL23
Rewritten for new compiler. Bug reports appreciated :-)
Wordwrap/filter (-&) feature added to print some wordprocessor files (such as
.WRI, WS, WP Generic).
A WP and WFW macros are available for registered users to print with JETCOL
without leaving WP or WFW.
Automargin modified to automatically switch on wordwrap when lines are longer
than column width unless -&- is included on the command line.
The -V option now allows a percentage to be specified which determines whether
partial last pages will be filled or eliminated.
JETCOL22
Modified for compatibility with the new HP LJ4 printer.
Improved the -V option interface
Changed default left margin to 7 spaces
JETCOL21
When using the -V option, JETCOL will now let you modify the line spacing to
either fill or eliminate partial pages at the end.
JETCOL20
Fix Automargin bug.
JETCOL19
Added function (-V) to provide a page count before printing.
Fixed bug that caused program to hang when trying to skip (-s) past end of file.
JETCOL18
Restore standard DOS printer timeout.
JETCOL16
Fix problem with pathnames exceeding 30 characters.
JETCOL15
Option (-Y) to customize default settings. Eliminates the need to enter
command line options every time you run the program. Eliminates the need for
batch files.
Option (-?) causes JETCOL to ask for filenames to print. Useful when JETCOL is
run from a menu or an icon. Filenames can still be entered on the command line
as well.
Modified the (-O) option, which prints odd pages only, to ask whether the user
wants to print even pages next. This allows for printing both sides without
rerunning the program.
A "press any key to continue" message now appears whenever JETCOL displays a
message at exit. This makes it possible to read error messages when run from an
icon or a menu program. Previously, under these conditions the message would
disappear before it could be read.
Registration codes are now individualized. This means that currently registered
users must upgrade to use this new version of JETCOL. This is the first time an
upgrade fee has ever been required for JETCOL. See registration in JETCOL.DOC.
The DOS printer timeout interval is now decreased while JETCOL is running.
Some people have commented that their system appears to hang sometimes while
running JETCOL. This is due to the long timeout delay DOS uses for the printer
before displaying an error message. If a shorter timeout causes any problems, I
would appreciate hearing from you. It is good practice to make sure your printer
is on-line before running JETCOL.
Added a JETCOL icon and a PIF file for Windows.
Added a serif to the letters "i" and "l" for better appearance.
JETCOL14
Added a thin (light) fonts option to produce a less dense-looking printout.
Added a demo mode (-K) so that users can evaluate features available only in
the registered version.
Added JETCOL descriptions suitable for vendor use or for uploading to BBS's.
JETCOL12
Redesigned fonts for better readability and consistancy between sizes.
JETCOL11
Added automargin command to scan entire file before printing and automatically
set margins and column width for best readability.
Added pagefix function which prints an exact number of pages per column,
retaining all blank lines and page breaks.
Added right margin setting.
JETCOL10 - Initial release.
