I encourage you to print and keep handy the instruction manual which
accompanies this package. Your question may not occur to you until
after a day or two of use.
The manual contains exactly 60 lines per page and not more than 72
characters per line. This means that it will fit on US Letter (8.5" x
11.0") paper and A4 size (210mm x 297mm). North American users will
find the lines a tad short. European users will lack a few lines per
page. Your printer will determine what margins are required to place
the text correctly on the paper. Some LaserJet and InkJet printers
have an unprintable region along one of the page sides. A 0.5" left
margin may place the text 0.75" in from the paper edge.
The page layout is intended for printing on both front and back of a
paper sheet. Considerable effort went into creating a layout where
related material appears on facing pages.
Page footers alternate left and right allowing use of mirrored margins
if you desire. I use one of the commonly available four up landscape
print utilities which give four logical pages on a single paper sheet.
Some word processors will facilitate double sided printing. I use
MSWord where the print preview gives a handy check of facing page
layout. A macro provides double sided printing by printing first all
odd numbered pages, pausing for paper reinsertion, then printing all
even numbered pages.
The layout also facilitates online viewing using a wide variety of
text viewers or full screen text editors. There is room for the
typical DOS editor's window borders.
