  1. The Devil's Maw
  2.  
  3.      Your small ship is nearly swamped as you enter the outer edges of The
  4. Devil's Maw.  Ahead you see the hungry funnel of the huge maelstrom.  It
  5. reminds you of the gaping mouth of some voracious daemon.  The ship's timbers
  6. groan loudly as your small craft is pitched violently about.  After a bitter
  7. struggle and fervent prayers to the Gods, your crew manages to navigate your
  8. ship back into calmer waters.
  9.      Your ship is severely damaged and your crew is near mutiny.  You are
  10. taking on water and you have lost a piece of your rudder.  You decide
  11. to attempt to return to port, and again beg the favor of the Gods for a
  12. safe return.  As you slowly sail away you notice a small channel running 
  13. along the eastern edge of the dreaded maelstrom.  Perhaps with a stronger 
  14. ship you could navigate the turbulent waters of this channel.
