  5. What is this thing?

  7.                 DIZ4DESC will use file descriptions found in most any type
  8.                 of archive to create reduced and consice 4DOS descriptions
  9.                 which will show up when you do a 'DIR' under 4DOS.
  10.  
  11.                 If you're not familiar with 4DOS then check it out. It is an
  12.                 excellent command processor which greatly enchances MS-DOS.
  13.                 It can be found in its legal shareware version on most BBSes.

  15. In the beginning...

  17.                 I wanted a program for quite a while now that would allow me
  18.                 to keep track of files in my BBS directories from DOS (4DOS)
  19.                 as well as help me remember what those ZIP files were I had
  20.                 downloaded last week and never got around to checking out.

  22. What good it this thing???

  24.                 If you run a BBS and operate under 4DOS this is a great way
  25.                 to keep track of files. You can even used a modified copy of
  26.                 the 4DOS description file named 'DESCRIPT.ION' to import
  27.                 descriptions into your BBS file lists.

  29. If you love to download...

  31.                 If you download a lot of stuff to a download directory
  32.                 then DIZ4DESC will help you keep track of what you have
  33.                 downloaded as the files build up and things get confusing!

  48. 09/01/94 v1.00  First version of DIZ4DESC created and tested out. Wow! it
  49.                 really worked great. I had a very positive reaction to it.
  50.                 Pumped quite a few hours of code into it to get it humming
  51.                 with a sweet purr and decided it may be appreciated by
  52.                 others so put together some help text and parameters for
  53.                 public release. Will run it for a week or so to break it in.

  55. 9/10/94  v1.10  Added VERBOSE for more detailed description of processing
  56.                 mostly intended to help with debugging user's problems.
  57.                 Registration fee *not* required for this initial version as
  58.                 much further testing is surely required but future versions
  59.                 will probably request or require a fee to help me out here.

  61. 9/17/94 v1.17   Found a bug with a conflict between 4DOS aliases and the
  62.                 DOS commands the program uses to process the archives.
  63.                 Added 4DOS version detection and created a special set of
  64.                 commands to be used when shelled to a 4DOS environment.

  68.                 program will probably evolve into something very popular
  69.                 and user support, debugging and recoding will be a part of
  70.                 my life for while. Seems many user like this program alot!
