  39.     The complete EDDY package includes the following files:

  41.     1. EDDYREAD.ME - This file
  42.     2. EDDY.COM - The main program
  43.     3. EDDY.AUX - Overlays for LOOK, Update, HELP, and menus
  44.     4. EDDY.USE - Sample file to illustrate Point-and-Shoot commands
  45.     5. EDDY_REG.BAT - Batch file to print the registration form
  46.     6. FILE_ID.DIZ - Text description for posting on BBSs
  47.                      (please include with any copies of EDDY you pass along)
  48.     7. EDDY.DOC - User's Manual (ASCII text, 59 lines max. per page)
  49.     8. EDDY_BBS.DOC - Conditions for BBS and commercial distribution
  50.     9. EDDY_HST.DOC - "History" of changes, by version
  51.    10. EDDY_WHY.DOC - A description of "neat things" to do with EDDY

  53.     If your set of files does not include these last four ".DOC" files, you
  54.     should have the file EDDY_DOC.EXE instead.  Refer to item #2, below.

  56.     Installation
  57.     ------------
  58.     1.  Copy all files to the disk/directory you'll use to execute EDDY.  If
  59.         one of the files you just copied was EDDY.DOC, the installation is
  60.         now complete.

  62.         EDDY does not need to be in its own directory, nor even in the PATH;
  63.         it can find the files it needs as long as at least the following are
  64.         in the same directory: EDDY.COM, EDDY.AUX, EDDY.USE
  65.  
  66.         Note:  One of the files in the package -- FILE_ID.DIZ -- might
  67.         overwrite a file already on your disk from other products, so you
  68.         may want to put EDDY in its own directory.  Alternatively, copy
  69.         "EDDY*.*" rather than "*.*".

  71.     2.  Your set of files may include EDDY_DOC.EXE.  This file contains
  72.         compressed versions of files 7 - 10, above, so that the whole EDDY
  73.         package will fit on a single 360K floppy.  Just run EDDY_DOC.EXE to
  74.         create these .DOC files (in your current default directory).

  76.         The self-extracting file EDDY_DOC.EXE is created with Haruyasu
  77.         Yoshizaki's highly-recommended compression utility "LHA".

  79.     Once EDDY is installed, the simplest way to get familiar with it is to
  80.     just type "EDDY" and [Enter].  Menus and context-sensitive HELP are
  81.     available as needed.

  84.     Conditions of Use

  86.     Near the beginning of the file "EDDY.DOC", you will find a complete
  87.     disclaimer of responsibility for anything that EDDY may or may not do.
  88.     Please read that information carefully.  You use EDDY at your own risk.

  90.     EDDY is shareware.  It is not free, and it is not in the public domain.
  91.     If you find EDDY to be useful and satisfactory after a reasonable trial
  92.     period, and you continue to use EDDY, you should register your copy
  93.     ("reasonable" means something on the order of 30 days trial use).

  95.     To register, you may use the form provided by printing the last page of
  96.     the file EDDY.DOC, or by running the "EDDY_REG.BAT" file; both methods
  97.     produce the same form (on most printers).
