3-30-94 Jumpy Scrolling
If you are getting text displayed on your screen, not smoothly then it
is usually a wrong setting on the other end. They have V42bis or MNP5 set, and the
speed their modem is set too slow. The slower their modem is set, the more
'jerky' the text will appear. IE: They have a 2400 modem with V42bis. It
should be set for 9600, not 2400bps. Or they might even have a V32(bis)-
9600+ modem, and set it for 2400. If you call with another 9600 you will
get a 9600 CARRIER, while the answering modem is talking to the computer at
a slow 2400.
While it's unlikely a speed dicreapncy on your end, you could try
using &Q0 and matching computer/modem speed (9600/9600) rather than using
buffering (19,200/9600).
