  3.      For Zoom/modems (even hi-speed modems) we recommend you pick the HAYES
  4.  
  5. Smartmodem 2400 initialization string recommended by the BBS documentation.
  6.  
  7.      If the modem is a Turbo or 'white' V42bis/2400 add S36=7 to the  Hayes
  8.  
  9. string.  If it is a Zoom V-series  modem, to get true  modem-modem  CONNECT
  10.  
  11. speed  add S95=1, or S95=3 if the BBS software supports /ARQ  (which  tells
  12.  
  13. the software if you get a V42(bis) connection).  Lock modem-computer  (DTE)
  14.  
  15. data  rate. (38,400 for V32bis, 19200 for V32, 9600 for  2400-V42bis,  2400
  16.  
  17. unlocked for all other Zoom/modems). Hardware CTS/RTS flow=ON (XON/XOFF for
  18.  
  19. plain 2400). In most instances this works.
  20.  
  21.      If the software wants Modem to answer then S0=1. If you have a  choice
  22.  
  23. of  modem  or software to answer, try letting the  software  answer  (S0=0)
  24.  
  25. before trying modem answer.
  26.  
  27.      I  do  suggest starting the string AT&F and then put  the  recommended
  28.  
  29. Hayes string, and whatever else you are using.
  30.  
  31.       Here is a suggested string for Wildcat    AT&C&C1&D2E0M0X1S95=3

  33. *  * * If you are running a BBS you might want to put ZOOMHINT.EXE, a  self
  34.  
  35. extracting file, with over 200 files with modem/faxing/comport help, up for
  36.  
  37. your users. You can get ZOOMHINT.EXE from  my ZOOM BBS, NITES and  Weekends
