  5. There are many commercial and shareware computer programs available to help
  6. you create charts or inventory your supplies.  A list of those which have been
  7. mentioned in rec.crafts.textiles is given below.  Check your favorite cross
  8. stitch magazine for advertisements of commercial products.  These have the
  9. most up-to-date information.
  10.  
  11. This list is for informational purposes only, and is not meant as a
  12. recommendation. The suitability and/or reliability of these products for any
  13. task is unknown (by me, at least).
  14.  
  15. Note that some of this information may be out of date or incomplete.  Please
  16. notify me if you have any additions or corrections.

  24.                 shareware, as there are so many archives out there.  If you do

  76.       The Cross-Stitch Designer allows you to create and edit cross-stitch
  77.       patterns.  The goal of this program is to display your pattern design
  78.       using the computer so that you can see how the stitched pattern will
  79.       appear before any stitching is done.

  81.       Full, half, quarter, and outline stitches are supported by this program.
  82.       Many of the standard thread colors are provided in a list from which you
  83.       chose when creating a pattern.  Complete printing capability is
  84.       provided.
  85.       You can print a pattern using symbols for representing thread types and
  86.       colors on a standard single-color printer, or print a pattern using
  87.       stitches and actual colors on a color printer.

  89.       All pattern editing is done using the mouse.  You use the mouse to
  90.       select the type of stitch, the thread color, and the location of each
  91.       stitch.  The mouse can also be used to select a region of a pattern
  92.       which then can be moved to another location on the pattern, copied to
  93.       the clipboard, or cut from the pattern.

  95.       Cross-Stitch Designer also supports the conversion of Windows bitmaps
  96.       into a pattern region.  This very powerful feature allows you to create
  97.       patterns using existing graphics files.  These bitmaps can be created
  98.       using graphics programs such as the Windows Paintbrush program or any
  99.       program that can create Windows 3.0 bitmaps.

  101.       Cross-Stitch Designer supports the VGA color palette.  These means that
  102.       pure colors can be used for thread colors if your monitor cards supports
  103.       the 256 color mode.

  114.    CrossMagic...allows you to enter and maintain details on all your threads
  115.    and charts.  It'll print reports on what threads you've run out of and need
  116.    to buy again, which charts you can make with your existing stock of floss,
  117.    what floss you need to buy to make a particular chart, it'll even let you
  118.    enter a search text and will list all the charts you own that pertain to
  119.    that subject. Evenweave conversion is catered for, and there is
  120.    comprehensive on-line help for all options.

  135.    for Windows (these two additional programs are provided for you to evaluate
  136.    and must be registered with their original authors if you decide to use
  137.    them after the evaluation period).

  139.    In addition to the above package, we have a library of charts that are
  140.    compatible with Cross-Stitch Designer.  This collection of 222 charts (2.5
  141.    megabytes worth) covers many different subjects.  The library is available
  142.    for only US$20.00, or if you order CrossMagic at the same time then you can
  143.    purchase the library for only US$10.00!

  145.    When ordering, please specify either 3.5" or 5.25" diskettes.  Orders
  146.    should either be in US dollars if sending a bank draft (your local bank can
  147.    arrange this for you), or you may send US cash.  We are not able to accept

  149.    cash lost in the post, protect yourself and send a bank draft!

  246.       There is a shareware program called Needlework, for the Macintosh.  The
  247.       graphing area is 90x90 with a choice of 28 symbols.  Each symbol can
  248.       have a color attached, to be printed as a key.  You can also draw lines
  249.       for backstitching and enter instructions.  The version I have (2.2)
  250.       won't read in an existing picture and chart it, and it is b&w only.
  251.       Maybe the author will improve it.  If you send the author $20 you'll get
  252.       the newest version personalized for you.
