Wandering Planets -- Copyright(c) 1994, Aaron O'Neil
Unregistered Users
The unregistered version of WPLANET.EXE will only allow you to create
one wandering planet. You will not be able to set the default
regeneration values for new planets, edit the regeneration values for
existing planets, or create the planet location report.
Registration is only $10!
The file REGISTER.FRM included with this zip contains the information
needed to register this program.
Registered Users
Once registered you can add as many wandering planets to the game as
you wish. The number of wandering planets is only limited by the
amount of free space in your TW planet data file.
You can create multiple planets at one time. By default the planets
will be named WANDERER, but you may also specify a file that contains
a list of names and the program will name them accordingly.
Default regeneration settings can be created, being applied to all
new planets you create.
A location report of planets is automatically generated each time the
planets are moved. The report is placed in a file called: WPLANET.RPT
Running WPLANET.EXE
There are two ways to run WPLANET.
C:>WPLANET
Starting WPLANET without any command line parameters will take you
to a menu where you can create and customize wanderers, revive the
blown up wanderers, move the wanderers, create the defaults, create
a location report, and enter your registration number.
C:>WPLANET MOVE
Starting WPLANET with a command line parameter of MOVE will randomly
move all the wanderers, then exit back to dos. This is how you would
move the wanderers from a maintenance batch file.
Program Updates
The latest version of the program can be found on:

The Main Menu
A) Create a Wanderer
This option will create one wandering planet.
B) Create Multiple Wanderers
This option allows you to create as many wanderers as you like, all
at the same time.
You will be asked if you want to use a list file for the planet
names. This list file is simply a text file, created by you, with
one name per line of the file. The planet names cannot be longer
than 41 characters. You will prompted for the name of the file,
so you can name it anything you want. If you create more planets
than there are names in your list file the remainder of the
planets will be named 'Wanderer'.
C) Edit Default Regeneration Stats
Here is where you set up the default values to be used when you
create a new wandering planet. See option 'D' for a description
of what the values are.
D) Edit Regeneration Stats
Each planet can be tailored to regenerate differently when it is
moved. The regeneration stats are applied to the planet each
time it is moved.
Regeneration Options
The plus and minus keys allow you to step through your list of
wanderers.
The Delete key will let you delete a wanderer.
F1 will bring up a brief help screen.
A) Revive
This controls how the planet is handled if it gets blown up
by a player. If set to YES, when the planet is moved it is
made active again. If set to NO, then the planet will
remain destroyed.
B) Commodities
This field can be set either to CUMULATIVE, or to FIXED. This
affects how Ore, Organics, Equipment and Colonists are
regenerated each time the planet is moved. If you set it to
CUMULATIVE the amount under Ore, Org, Equ and Colonists is
added to the amount already on the planet. If you set it to
FIXED, then the amount that is on the planet is SET TO the
amount listed under Ore, Org, Equ and Colonists.
C) Ore
The amount of ore to add or set on the planet.
D) Organics
The amount of organics to add or set on the planet.
E) Equipment
The amount of equipment to add or set on the planet.
F) Colonists
The number of colonists to add or set on the planet. This
value is evenly divided among the three commodities.
G) Fighters
Can be set to CUMULATIVE or FIXED. Works yjr same way as
the commodities work.
H) The number of fighters to add or set on the planet.
I) Credits
Can be set to CUMULATIVE or FIXED. Works the same way as
the commodities work.
J) Number of credits to add or set on the plnet.
E) Revive Wanderers
This option scans the entire planet file, looking for wandering
planets that have been destroyed. This will bring all the
destoyed wanders back to life.
F) Move Wanderers
This has the same effect as the MOVE command line option. It
randomly moves all the wanderers and generates a report of the
locations of all the wanderers in a file called WPLANET.RPT.
G) Location Report
Generates a file called WPLANET.RPT containing the locations of
all the wanderers.
Z) Enter Registration Code
This is where you type in your registration code and gain full
access to all the functions of WPLANET.
