  2.                        --------------------------
  3.     NOTE: Version 4.0+ is not file compatible with earlier versions of
  4.     the program.  A conversion program is provided to all people who
  5.     register to update their old files to the new format.

  7.     This README file contains important information about Video Librarian
  8.     v4.10
  9.  
  10.     1. INSTALLATION
  11.     ----------------
  12.        HARD DRIVE:
  13.        (1) Insert the Video Librarian disk into drive A or B. You should
  14.        be at your hard drive command prompt (C:\> or any other hard drive
  15.        letter designation. (2) Type A:\INSTALL or B:\INSTALL (3) Press the
  16.        ENTER key. (4) Follow the on screen prompts and the program will be
  17.        automatically installed on your hard drive.
  18.  
  19.        FLOPPY DRIVE:
  20.        (1) Obtain a formatted disk or format a disk to place the program
  21.        files on. (2) Place the program disk in Drive A or B. (3) Place
  22.        the previously formatted disk in the opposite drive. (4) Log on
  23.        to the drive that has the program disk, if it is drive A, you
  24.        should see the A:\> prompt. (5) Type INSTALL and press the
  25.        ENTER key. (6) Follow the on screen prompts.

  27.        NOTE: If you downloaded this program from a BBS, after unzipping
  28.        the program, just type install.  The program can be installed
  29.        from a hard disk subdirectory.

  31.        START-UP
  32.  
  33.        To start the program after installation, type VLB and press the ENTER
  34.        key. If the program fails to load perform the following to start the
  35.        program, log to the drive that holds the program files and type:
  36.  
  37.                             CD\
  38.                             CD\VIDEO40
  39.                             VLB

  41.        Press the ENTER Key after each line above.

  43.     2.    PRIMARY INDEX HOT KEYS
  44.     --------------------------
  45.     The primary index can be selected by selecting the file menu and
  46.         then the Set Index Menu as described in the manual. However, you
  47.         can also select the primary index by pressing the ALT key and while
  48.         holding the ALT key down press a number 1 - 7.  The numbers 1 - 7
  49.         represent the seven index files as follows: (1) Title, (2) Star,
  50.         (3) Co-Star, (4) Director, (5) Category, (6) Tape# and (7) Movie#.
  51.     3. LASER PRINTERS
  52.     ------------------
  53.     If you are using a Hewlett Packard laser, inkjet or a laser printer
  54.     that is compatible with the Hewlett Packard, you must set the lines
  55.     per page to 60 on the set-up window. To get to the set-up window,
  56.     select file form the main menu and then Setup. The Cannon BJC-600
  57.     should set lines to 61.

  63.      Vid Library Catalog (free when you register Video Librarian)

  65.      The Vid Library Catalog is a database of 2000 movies complete
  66.      with reviews in the memo field.  The Vid Library Catalog database
  67.      engine can merge all or selected movies to your regular Video
  68.      Librarian datafiles.  This library can save you hundreds of hours
  69.      of inputing data.  NOTE: A HARD DRIVE IS REQUIRED. Retail price
  70.      is $20.95 but free when you register Video Librarian.  You don't
  71.      need to make an entry on the order form because it is included
  72.      automatically when you register Video Librarian.

  74.      Vid Library Catalog Subscription

  76.      Four times a year (Jan, Apr, Jul and Oct) we publish a disk with
  77.      new movie reviews plus additional older movies not included in the
  78.      Vid Library Catalog.  Each disk will contain a minimun of 500
  79.      movies and probably more.  By use of the database engine from the
  80.      Vid Library catalog you can merge all or selected movies into
  81.      Video Librarian. Retail price is $35.95 per year, but a one
  82.      year subscription is included free with your Video Librarian
  83.      registration.  Renewal subscriptions are offered a discount.

  85.      Book Librarian
  86.      ---------------
  87.      This easy-to-use database management system is ideal for managing
  88.      your personal, church, club or coporate library. Capacity limited
  89.      only by disk size. Each record can hold the following: Title,
  90.      Author, Type, Subject, Edition, Pages, Copyright Year, Catalog#,
  91.      ISBN, Purchase Date, Price, Publisher, Location, 2 note fields,
  92.      anda Memo field. The memo field can hold up to 30 lines of infor-
  93.      mation. It only uses disk space if the field (memo) is utilized.
  94.      Prints numerous reports to the screen, printer or a disk file.
  95.      Features context sensitive help, mouse support and much more. Also
  96.      features outstanding search and find procedures.
