Just a quick note about some minor additions to this release of
UltraSoft Animated BackGammon v2.1
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The recommended method of installation is now using the INSTALL Utility
called INSTALL.EXE. This program should install the first Node, (and
often even additional nodes if run again), completely, in many cases.
If something about your specific system is unique, some minor editing or
adjustment may be required after, but INSTALL.EXE should do most of what
is necessary to do, for an operational game, on at least one Node. Simply,
execute it and follow the prompts.
Manually Installing or modifying files
--------------------------------------
This entire archive should be placed in one subdirectory called UABG or
something similar, with the exception of the separate archives contained
within the main archive. Edit the UABG.CFG file to indicate the Drop File
location on line 1, and your Sysop options on the remaining lines, as
noted in the existing UABG.CFG file. We suggest using the one enclosed,
and simply moving it to your BBS directory when it is configured for your
specific system. The notes on the bottom of the UABG.CFG file do not affect
it in any way, and should be left there for future reference. For more data
on this please see your SYSOP.DOC file.
Also included in this release is a Small Diagnostic file which checks out
your file placement, and your general configuration, before running the
game actively online. It is called CHECKIT.EXE. This was created to help
handle some of the reported file placement and configuration type problems
that have surfaced in a few cases. As indicated above, INSTALL.EXE will
provide an INSTALL and automate the entire process, in many cases. We
highly advise reading the SYSOP.DOC file prior to proceeding with
installation. If this small file is used as an install reference, your
installation should go very smoothly, but "winging it" is likely to produce
some problems as we have seen with the previous release.
NOTE: Be aware that the Heading File called HELLO.IMG is required to run.
This is the Title Screen for beginning the Game, and thus must be there.
The HELLO2.IMG file, however, is optional. It can be replaced by any ANSI
or ASCII screen you like, (Named HELLO2.IMG) or can be eliminated completely.
If it is not there, the game will simply skip over it.
Remember, you can Test Drive UABG once dearchived into a directory by
typing UABG /L This will activate the game in LOCAL MODE.
Enjoy the game, and please contact us with any complications. The Game is
operating very well on several BBS's to date, and should on yours as well.
