The Sanctified Revoloutions BBS Network
SR-Net was started in late 1993 by Steve Scott and Greg Ross as an
alternative message echo. Topics of conversation went from the
normal such as SR_Videogames to the bizarre in SR_INSANITY. The net
was meant to appeal to those of us who where tired of the same old
topics. Shortly after the formation of SR-NET, came the addition of
2 new systems to the net. Canadian Online Services and The Circuit
Board BBS. These 2 systems were more "mainstream" and were focused
on finding a network which permit them to experiment in the areas
of "BBS Networking". The ultimate goal being, that any user could
call a SR-NET BBS and have access to the other member boards from
that BBS. Imagine being able to access a BBS in Oshawa from lets
say Newmarket or Oakville. What began was a development and
combining of systems. It is now possible to search all
participating BBS's file bases for text or specific filenames. You
can browse a remote systems file list from a participating system,
and most importantly you can then have that file sent to you at
that BBS.
File requesting is an important part of the net, but not the only
feature. We also have a .TIC file area called SR_UPLOADS. This area
brings in an average of 30 - 40 megabytes per month of files
collected from various sources.
For the future, development has been started on a "live feed"
system which will allow chat between systems, real time file
requesting as well as other "Internet type" activities.
What do you need to join? First off,a lot of patience. Then a copy
of ALLFIX, a copy of McFreq and a Fido mailer. All of these can be
sent to you if you need it. Also help can be provided to those of
you who run into problems.
If you would like to be part of this system contact:
