Message Base To Write This Message To ^ Enter the path and name of the MSGS type base you want this message written to. This is a fully qualified path and filename in order for this function to operate properly. Users Text Message File ^ This is a fully qualified path and filename of a text file you want inserted into the message SpotChek will generate when it recieves a bad file. Please note that you MUST have the "Post Message To User On Failed Upload" question answered to "Y" on the switches screen in order for this feature to function. Sysop Text Message File ^ This is a fully qualified path and filename of a text file you want inserted into the message SpotChek will generate when it recieves a bad file. Please note that you MUST have the "Post Message To Sysop On Failed Upload" question answered to "Y" on the switches screen in order for this feature to function. Path/Name of Ad Insert File ^ This is a fully qualified path and name of a file you want to insert into the archive. You may use any path and name, but please use this feature with caution as you may have more ads in your archives than you have actual files. Path/Name of StripFile ^ This is a fully qalified patha and filename of a text file containing the names you wish to have stripped within the archive. For examply, if you wanted to strip ALL archives of all *.GIF files, you would simple put *.GIF in this text file, and SpotChek will take out ALL occurences of this file from within the archive. Path to the Bad Offline Directory ^ This is the path to a directory you wish all bad files moved to. No files will be deleted from this directory, so you may use any exising directory with no fear of it being a work (or one to be deleted as with the Temp Dir) directory. Path Of Temporary Directory ^ Path to a Temporary work directory where files will be archived to, scanned for viruses from, and deleted when SpotChek is finished. Please be sure to use a directory that will NOT be used for anything else as SpotChek always cleans up and wipes out all files and directories previously created under this directory. Be sure to enter this wisely. Be sure there are NO subdirectories with important files in them underneath the Temporary Directory. You may wish to make use of a RAM Drive to speed up file processing. Path/Name of the "TrashCan" File ^ This is a fully qualified path and filename of a text file with certain filemasks in it of files you absolutely WON'T accept on your system. These files may include such names as *.GIF or any wildcard. Please note that this is different than the StripFile function as this works on filenames that come into the system, NOT filenames from within the archive. With this you have a two tier filtering system for your uploads. Path/Name of Log File ^ This is a fully qualified patha and filename of a file you wish to use as a log file. If this field is left blank, SpotChek will automatically use your default PCB log file for THAT particular node using the PCB style of logging. This will be expanded upon in future versions. Path/Name of your Comment File ^ This is a fully qualified path and filename of a text file used for comment insertion. Please note this little quirk of most archivers. ALWAYS leave a blank line at the top of this ascii file so that it will format properly when viewed later on. This text file, if found, will be inserted as your comment in that archive and will show up to anyone extracting it later until someone else edits and inserts another one. Path/Name of PCB Dir File ^ This is a fully qualified path and filename of the PCB Dir file you wish to append the File_id.Diz file to. Please note that you must have the "Insert File Id as description" field on the switches menu set to "Y" in order for this to feature to function. Path/Name of TrashCan File ^ The TrashCan file is a text file with filenames, one per line, of files you do NOT want uploaded to your system. This may include wildcards. Be sure you only enter one per line in order to assure correct function. Path/Name to the Intro Screen ^ This is the fully qualified path and filename to a screen which will be shown to user first. This could be an introduction to your system or to the file checker itself, whichever you prefer. This is not necessary and is only provided to allow you to customize the "look" of the system. Path/Name of the Main Screen File ^ This is a fully qualified name and path of the main screen shown to the user while all the main processing is taking place. This screen may include most of the PCB macros, but not all of them, so experiment with them to see which ones work. For a full list of available macros, consult the documentation. Path / Name of the Bye Screen ^ This is a fully qualified path and filename of the goodbye screen shown to the user last. This is the final thing the user will see of SpotChek's current file chek, so you may reflect some sort of board specific file. Most PCB macros, although not all, can be used in this file. Consult your documentation for more details. Path/Name of Failed File ^ This is a fully qualified path and filename of the file shown to the user in an event the file failed SpotCheks processing. This may include some of the PCB macros, although not all of them. Consult your documentation for more details. Name / Command Line of Zip/Unzip Archiver ^ This is the name and the command line of the ZIP archiver/unarchiver on your system. All that is needed is that this program resides in your path, Spot Chek will find it. Name / Command Line of ARJ Archiver/Unarchiver ^ This is the name and command line of the ARJ style archiver you intend to use. You may put any type of archiver you wish, we have defaulted it to suit the popular ARJ format most often used on BBS systems. No need to pad this entry with a space for execution, Spot Chek will take care of that for you. Name / Command line of ARC style archiver/unarchiver ^ This is the name and command line of your ARC style archiver /unarchiver you wish to use on your system. We have defaulted it to PKware's ARC program, but you may wish to use any of the ARC archivers available today. Name / Command line of LZH archiver / unarchiver program ^ Name and the command line of an LZH/LHA type archiver / unarchiver you wish to use on your system. It is by default set to LHA, but you may wish to use anything you like. Name / Command line of PAK style archiver / unarchiver ^ Name and command line of PAK style archiver. Although we have defaulted it to the popular PAK format, you may wish to use any of the fine products availabe, just provide the appropriate command line. Path / Name of Scan Program ^ This is a fully qualified path and filename of your favorite virus scanning program. You may use any program you like, Spot Chek is not fussy, but generally speaking, it will allow up to about 400K of memory for the scan program to execute. Command Line for Scan Program ^ This is the command line for the virus scanner you are using. You may have to consult your scanner documentation for this command line. We can't really help you here without knowing what program you are using, but Spot Chek works quite well with most programs on the market. Force Comments into Main Conference? ^ This tells SpotChek that you want to put all messages generated by SpotChek into your main conference by default, rather than the current conference the user is in at the time of his upload. You may choose either option, but please remember that if you are in an echo conference, these messages may be sent out as echomail, so use this option carefully. ZOO Archiver/Unarchiver Command Options ^ These are the commands for your ZOO type archiver to operate properly. SpotChek will provide some defaults, but you may customize them as you wish. If you customize them, please remember that the file insert and comment routines are specific to the generic ZOO routines, so you may have to disable those options. Post Message to User when an Upload Fails? ^ This tells SpotChek to generate a message to the user in the selected conference (depending on the force into main override) telling them that this upload failed. You may force all messages generated by SpotChek into your main conference in case you maintain echomail conferences. Post Messages to Sysop on Failed Upload? ^ This tells SpotChek to generate a message to the Sysop in event an upload should fail. SpotChek will by default post it in the users current conference, but if you choose the override in the "Messages" Section of the config program, SpotChek will post it in your main conference, which is usually a private base. Move Failed Files to Bad Dir on Failed Upload? ^ If selected, this option will tell SpotChek to see first if there is a valid path listed in your "paths -> Bad Dir" in SpotCFG, and if there is, SpotChek will copy the file over into that directory. Import File_id's as Descriptions? ^ This tells SpotChek to import the file_id.diz file if it exists in the archive. SpotChek will import the proper file_id file into your description line of your DIR file for that specific conference. Check for Duplicate Uploads to System? ^ Spot can track all files that come into your system, regardless of altered filenames by generating a CRC value of each file uploaded, and match any file that has been previously upload back as far up as 9999 files. SpotChek will automatically maintain a duplicate filebase with no maintenance required. Please note that you will have a dupe database on your drive with 4 bytes used up for each file you maintain, so a 1000 file dupe base will create a 4K file on your drive. Number of Files to Maintain in Dupebase ^ This tells SpotChek to keep a certain number back, updated in the duplicate base. If set to 1000, for example, SpotChek will keep the last 1000 files on record that were uploaded. CRC OverRide Toggle ^ This tells SpotChek to do a CRC check on the file, regardless of the outcome of the extract(the extract will return an error, meaning the file is bad anyways). This is to find out if some files may be salvaged, if it is a bad archive. Convert All Files to Default Format? ^ This toggle tells SpotChek to convert all files that come into the system to a default format. You could, for example, convert all uploaded files to the *.ARJ format. SpotChek updates all PCB files. Format to Convert To? ^ A 3 letter code of the archive format to convert the files to. Examples are ZIP,ARJ,ZOO,PAK,LHZ and ARC. If the file cannot be read by the archive header this function will be disabled automatically. OverRide Toggle to Write to PCB Log ^ This tells SpotChek to write to the PCB defined logfile instead of SpotCheks specified log file. Check Files for Old Files ^ This tells SpotChek whether or not to invoke the Date Checking Function. SpotChek will chek each filedate against the date you enter below and if ANY of the files are found to be too old, SpotChek will fail the file. Date to be Used for Cutoff Point ^ This is the Date in the form of [MM / DD / YY]. If files are found to be older than this date(if the above is set to "Y"), SpotChek will fail this archive. If you enter a 01, SpotChek will alter it to show just the "1", and is ok. Color for the Box Itself ^ This is the box color including the text space. The background stays the same Raised Box Color ^ The box may looked "Raised" by actually just highlighted one corner of the box making the box appear to be 3 dimensional, as with Windows. Here you may specify the raised color. It should have the same background as the box color as it will ultimately have the same characteristics. Color of FileName ^ This is the color of the actual FileName in the box. Try to make this have the same background as the text color or it may look a bit off. Action Color ^ There are various "messages" sent to the box during execution. This sets the color for those messages. Please note that there is a seperate Box Text color which is the regular text, this is the color used after that for the box. Failed Box Color ^ There is a little box(ASCII 254) used (blinking) to indicate an error in the user box. This flashes (usually with green for ok and red, but it is up to you) a certain color when the funcion passes. It also flashes a different color when actual function is executing. You may configure all of these colors. Ok Box Color ^ When a function passes, this is the color of the little flashing box signifying it passed. Failed Text Color ^ You already have a setting for regular action text, but this is for a failed function. Setting this may help the user notice there was a problem during execution, although they will be shown a failed file as well. Paths/FileNames ^ Here you may select the directories you will use during program execution. Archivers/Utilities ^ A menu where you may select the names of the archivers you will use and the scan program and command line you will use. Messageing System ^ PCB v 15+ messageing system allows you to post messages to your users. Switches/Toggles ^ A series of questions and short prompts for varying system configurations. Colors ^ A small user box shows up during execution. Here you may choose the colors that will be shown to the user during program execution. Dos Shell ^ You may exit to dos to check on things or do various tasks. Remember to type "Exit" to return to the program. Credits ^ Program Credits and Program CopyRight Notice Exit/Save Config ^ Exits the program. You may also press ESC and the config file will automatically be saved to disk.
