echo ║ The author's standard archiving utility is PKWare's "PKZIP" 1.1.; ║
echo ║ author distributed archives will be titled either: QBALL240.ZIP, ║
echo ║ or, if from CompuServe Information Service, QBAL24.ZIP. You will ║
echo ║ need PKWare's "PKUNZIP" to decompress the ZIP files. ║
echo ║ ║
echo ║ ■ A complete working copy of QBALL won't fit on one 360k disk!!! ║
echo ║ If you have only 360's, omit the Range Table Reader and Graphics ║
echo ║ Translator utilities. Extract the following from QBALL240.ZIP: ║
echo ║ QBALL.EXE, AMMO.DAT, M.NDX, D.NDX, and ?GA_SAV.?T1. ║
echo ║ ║
echo ║ ■ For 720k disks, three disks are recommended. ║
echo ║ Execs Disk: QBALL.EXE, AMMO.DAT, M.NDX, D.NDX, ?GA_SAV1.?T1, ║

echo ║ Manually Printing the documentation. (You may also use INSTALL) ║
echo ║ ─────────────────────────────────── ║
echo ║ The Users' Manual will print with sufficient margin to permit ║
echo ║ punching to fit a 3-ring binder. Set your printer to 'left mar- ║
echo ║ gin = 0', 10 CPI, and do not enable 'skip perforations;' formfeeds ║
echo ║ are built in. There are two *.DOC files: one prints the odd-num- ║
echo ║ bered pages; the other, the even-numbered pages. Print the odd ║
echo ║ numbers first. Enter: ║
echo ║ COPY QBALLODD.DOC PRN ║
echo ║ and when the last odd ║
echo ║ page has printed, flip the paper, ensuring that you're printing on ║
echo ║ the back of the title page, and enter: ║
echo ║ COPY QBALLEVN.DOC PRN ║
echo ║ to print the even-numbered pages. ║
echo ║ You'll need 48 sheets of fanfold paper and 1½ hours for the job. ║
echo ║ You may use single sheets; reverse the sheet order for even pages. ║
echo ╟──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────╢
echo ║ You may use ONEDOC.COM to combine the manual files into one file if ║
echo ║ you want to change the formatting. See ONEDOC.DOC for details. ║

echo ║ Starting QBALL. ║
echo ║ ────────────── ║
echo ║ You MUST have a PC-DOS/MS-DOS compatible computer with a CGA ║
echo ║ or EGA monitor to display graphics. TABULAR data may be computed ║
echo ║ and displayed on any monitor; QBALL auto-detects what you've got. ║
echo ║ ║
echo ║ Log into the directory or onto the disk where you have in- ║
echo ║ stalled QBALL, and type: QBALL (+[enter]). ║
echo ║ If you have an LCD screen, start QBALL with a black-on-white ║
echo ║ screen by typing: QBALL /b (+[enter]). ║
echo ║ ║
echo ║ QBALL reads its starting data from the tail of QBALL.EXE; no .INI ║
echo ║ is required. If you wish to use the supplied trajectory graphics ║
echo ║ files, they must be in the same directory with QBALL. Follow the ║
echo ║ prompts, (or even read the documentation!) and... ║

echo ╠══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╣
echo ║ ≈≈≈≈ Wrinkles ≈≈≈≈ ║
echo ║ ────────────────── ║
echo ║ QBALL *will* run from a floppy: 360K, 720K, 1.2M, or 1.44M, ║
echo ║ but any file write/retrieve operations are S-L-O-O-W. If that's ║
echo ║ what you've got, however, it's sure faster than using pencil and ║
echo ║ published tables! ║
echo ║ ║
echo ║ With the limited 360k setup specified above you'll have room ║
echo ║ for the full 15 trajectory files. (If you're saving range tables, ║
echo ║ all bets are off!) ║
echo ║ ║
echo ║ Two ways to speed QBALL's operation in file write/retrieve: ║
echo ║ 1) Run QBALL from its own directory on a hard disk; or, ║
echo ║ 2) If you can afford the RAM, run QBALL from a RAM disk. ║
echo ║ ║
echo ║ Using a RAM disk -- minimum size = 400K -- will allow QBALL to go ║
echo ║ lickety-split! (That means FAST!) There's no improvement in the ║
echo ║ internal workin's -- they're all in memory anyway -- but external ║
echo ║ operations are so quick they're downright nervous! ║
