  23.  ABOUT TIGER TEAM

  25.  Tiger Team is an electronic bulletin board for the Buddhist 
  26.  community.  This "electronic sangha" knows no borders; and we have 
  27.  members from as far away as Asia.  We offer many different 
  28.  services, including echomail, netmail, Usenet Newsgroups, files and 
  29.  games.  We are members of about half a dozen different networks, 
  30.  including DharmaNet, PodsNet, RBBSNet, and Fidonet. These networks 
  31.  carry worldwide conferences on such topics as Dharma (Buddhist 
  32.  Teachings) and the I Ching.  We host four of these conferences: 
  33.  "Scholarly Buddhism," "Zen Buddhism," "Women & Buddhism" and  "Bay 
  34.  Buddhist Network".  We also feature the "Buddhist Peace Fellowship" 
  35.  conference, in which BPF leaders update the online Buddhist 
  36.  community about upcoming events and activities.

  38.  Tiger Team also has INTERNET access, and among our conferences are
  39.  INTERNET Usenet Newsgroups, such as BUDDHA-L (for Buddhist 
  40.  scholars) ZENDO (for Zen Buddhist Practitioners), TIBET-L (for the 
  41.  latest news on Tibet) and BUDDHISM (for practitioners).  For 
  42.  community event listings, local and national, or for questions 
  43.  concerning Buddhism, there is no substitute for these networks.

  45.  Our file library is also a valuable educational resources.  We have 
  46.  many Buddhist papers, articles, translations and Dharma talks.  In 
  47.  fact, through an agreement with the Dharma Realm Buddhist 
  48.  Association, we have a collection of Buddhist translations that 
  49.  have never been seen.  Tiger Team also has a file library 
  50.  containing foreign language tutorials and dictionaries.  This 
  51.  library ranges from the more common Chinese and Japanese tutorials, 
  52.  to the more obscure Thai and Turkish programs.  We are also 
  53.  official distributors of CWP (Chinese Word Processor) and KAPIAN, 
  54.  Chinese Flash Cards.  Like our conference areas, access to the file 
  55.  libraries are free to the public.

  57.  We strongly encourage donations and advertising, Tiger Team is a 
  58.  not-for-profit venture, and all incoming money is used to upgrade 
  59.  the systems hardware and software rather than pay for monthly 
  60.  maintenance.
