A diary of the programming, beta testing, and bug fixes of Piano
by CyberWare...
Documentations by Justin Ray
----------------------------------------------------------------
January 4, 1994 Version 0.13
School hasn't started yet, so I am starting work on a follow up
to RSD's old MUSIC.COM program... version 0.13 does the bare
essentials! Just makes a few notes etc..
----------------------------------------------------------------
January 25, 1994 Version 0.24
Work has been very slow on Piano.. I've added the delay option,
and added some flashing notes.. looks kinda neat...
----------------------------------------------------------------
February 14, 1994 Version 0.31
Finally got around to working on it again, for a few minutes =]
Added Table of notes, and streamlined programming a bit...
----------------------------------------------------------------
March 25, 1994 Version 0.44
Sheesh! I have no time to work on this, setting up the BBS and
all... Well, I changed the input so now you can type the key
with CAPS LOCK on or off, or NUM LOCK on or off, or use SHIFT
key... Makes no difference now.. Fixed up screens a bit..
----------------------------------------------------------------
April 22, 1994 Version 0.51
Converted code to Turbo Pascal Version 5.0 instead of the old
and SLOW version 3.0... MUCH MORE efficient now... More use of
CyberWare Library, implemented a few more space saving tech-
niques...
----------------------------------------------------------------
April 23, 1994 Version 0.53
Finally PIANO is beginning to look like a good product! A few
bugs fixed, condensed the coding a bit, and changed the quit
key to ESC instead of ENTER because of switching to version 5.0
----------------------------------------------------------------
April 23, 1994 Version 0.69
Been working on this fer a wile now.. Added playback, and reset
features. Adding delay for playback. Trying to improve the
looks of the screen.
----------------------------------------------------------------
April 24, 1994 Version 0.74
Fixed a stupid playback bug that made an extra note. Made the
screen a little nicer. Fixed a bug in the delay. Reset actually
works now! =]
----------------------------------------------------------------
April 24, 1994 Version 0.94
Finally! After several updates, an almost finished product is
here! I have added a few more features, like changing the
duration of the note during the program, and a note counter.
I have moved things around a bit, and this has improved the
looks, or so I think. The only two things I have to do now, are
fixing one really annoying bug in the playback, and fix up the
title screen a bit.. no, a lot! hehe
----------------------------------------------------------------
April 30, 1994 Version 0.95
Yipee! New, very useful addition to commands, to delete last
note. Very useful for mistakes! hehe... Changed a bit of the
source for clarity.
----------------------------------------------------------------
May 2, 1994 Version 0.99
Yaaaahh!!!! Finally! Everything is working right, and that
stupid annoying glitch when you add the delay is GONE!!! I made
the screens look a little nicer, and added a logo on the bottom.
The only thing that keeps me from going to version 1.00 is that
I still need a decent title/main screen... Well, it works
properly, anyway! ..I think I will make the registred version
with soundblaster support.. The registration fee will be very
cheap!!!! But, I still gotta be able to RECORD melodies, and
SAVE them!!! That shouldn't be too hard anyway.. I think it
should actually be quite easy.. well, TTUL...
----------------------------------------------------------------
May 10, 1994 Version 0.995
Nope, no version 1.00 yet! I'm sittin' here and I'm sick and so
I added a few "aesthetic" features, mostly for future use. I
moved the onscreen things around just a bit, and got it ready 4
when I add save\load features. This version probably won't be
released unless I make it a preview. I better stop this babbling
and get to work on version 0.996, ha! - Zinc
----------------------------------------------------------------
May 18, 1994 Version 0.998
Yes! I FINALLY got the saving/loading features to work after
two undocumented versions (0.996 and 0.997). A graphics intro is
being worked on, and is almost done. It should be included in
version 1.00... I'm not quite happy with the looks of the save
and load features, so I'm going to change that, too. Also, A few
more bugs were found and taken out just before releasing this
version. This version is not public shareware, and will probably
not be released. Version 0.999 will likely be a free BETA. -Zinc
----------------------------------------------------------------
May 18, 1994 Version 0.999
Yay! Another version BEFORE v 1.00! Welllll.. I consider this
to be an excellent improvment over previous versions (before
version 0.998. This version is indeed a BETA, however it won't
be much different than the actual SHAREWARE version 1.00... The
new .PNO format is introduced for all of our PIANO utilities,
and some more bugs are gone, as well as a comment feature added
to the .PNO format. The new song prompt works a lot smoother,
too. Well, until version 1.00 (or v 0.9999? =]) - Zinc
----------------------------------------------------------------
May 28, 1994 Version 1.00
Hooray! After DOZENS of beta versions, version 1.00 is here!
A GREAT new option is included which allows you to save songs as
EzyCom page tunes. Lots of bugs are gone, and also a little
feature that tells you the frequency has been added. I hope you
like this version (and register!)..... Zinc...
