  5. MEMO MASTER UPDATE NOTES:

  7. Version 3.11 - has the convert utility built in and Alt-E will invoke
  8.                the version 2 type editor.
  9.  
  10. Version 3.11 - Added primitive mouse support.  (I plan to enhance the
  11. (03-Sep-92)    Memo Master with more elaborate mouse support sometime
  12.                in the future.) [1/28/94: It really is in the works!]

  14. Version 3.20 - Added row & column coordinates to the [PgDn]
  15. (Release 1)    version 1 style editor and also the Alt-E
  16.                version 2 style editor.

  18. Version 3.21 - Changed backup to floppy filespec from *.DB? to
  19. (Release 1)    *.D??  The DAT files for setup and printer
  20.                information will be backed up and also the DOC
  21.                files in case you make any modifications.  Also
  22.                added a manual command choice.

  24. MEMO /UMOFF will turn off swapping to upper memory and swap to disk
  25.             instead.  (This is only necessary if you are getting errors
  26.             when swapping out to your external editor or during floppy
  27.             data backup.)

  41.                browse menu (<Esc> aborts & "Quit" will quit the 
  42.                current database and change to the next database
  43.                in alphabetical order) and slightly changed the
  44.                browse and search screens.

  46. Version 3.31 - Add the ability to imbed a form feed character
  47. (Release 1)    in your memo field. <Shift [F8]> when using the
  48.                internal editors. (or <Alt 158>)  This will put
  49.                a "₧" symbol in the memo field and this
  50.                character must be at the beginning of a line.
  51.                Anything following the "₧" symbol on the same
  52.                line will NOT be printed.  When printing a
  53.                memo, every time a ₧ is encountered, a form feed
  54.                will be sent to your printer. I was unable to
  55.                use the normal Ascii 12 character so Ascii 158
  56.                was used.  Please note that the "₧" character
  57.                will only issue a form feed to the printer when
  58.                the internal Memo Master editors are used.
  59.                (This function will not work when you use the
  60.                print block routine)

  71.                dial and hit Alt-D to dial.  The dialer will read
  72.                16 characters from the cursor position.  BE SURE TO
  73.                TELL MEMO MASTER WHICH COM PORT TO USE BY PICKING,
  74.                S. Setup Option Menu. FROM THE MAIN MENU.

  76. Version 3.55 - Speeded up searching multiple databases.  It no longer
  77. (Release 2)    pauses at the end of each database the search string is
  78.                not found in.

  80. Version 3.55 - Changed the Alt = calculator to a new movable one!
  81. (Release 5)    (Alt-F10 will let you change the calculator colors
  82.                for the current session.) [*Note* The solar calculator

  94. Version 4.10 - Added 'Browse ALL Databases by Description/Remind' to the
  95. (Release 1)    Browse Menu and also 'Jog My Memory Search' to the Search
  96.                Menu.  The new Browse will list ALL memos in ALL databases
  97.                by Description in alphabetical order!  Pick the one you
  98.                want & hit <Enter>!  The Jog My Memory Search will search 
  99.                ALL databases for a text string and list them in the same 
  100.                manner as the new browse as mentioned above.  Records 
  101.                deleted when in this mode will be marked for deletion but 
  102.                NOT permanently removed.  Also new to version 4.10 is that 
  103.                when searching for a text string, the Description and the 
  104.                Text fields will be searched.  **Special thanks to GEORGE 
  105.                STEVENS for all of the above 4.10 ideas.

  107.        Also: When searching for a text string in a single database, if you
  108.              hit [PgDn] to answer the 'Search All Databases' "NO" prompt
  109.              instead of [Enter], the current database will be search in
  110.              reverse order. (by Created date field in descending order)

  112. Version 4.11 - Added F10 to save and Alt-X to exit when in the full blown
  113. (Release 1)    internal editor and also the 'Check for deleted records to
  114.                be removed' after the global browse and jog my memory 
  115.                search.

  121. Version 4.11e - Changed the prompt when found text is displayed during
  122.                 a text search. You can answer (Y)es to keep searching
  123.                 the current record, (N)o or <Esc> to stop searching
  124.                 that record and remain there, (C)ontinue/Find Next Record
  125.                 to find the next record (if any) that matches the search
  126.                 criteria. [Thanks to Don Cunningham for this idea and the
  127.                 previous reverse search mentioned on the previous page.]

  139. *When running MEMO, always change to the directory where MEMO.EXE is
  140. located.  MEMO will create database files if they don't exist.  For
  141. calling MEMO from anywhere, you can add this batch file (MEMO.BAT)
  142. to your batch file directory or any directory that is in you path:

  149. In the above example batch file you would, of course, change the
  150. drive and directory to match where you installed MEMO.

  152. *NOTE* IF YOU ARE A REGISTERED USER, WRITE DOWN YOUR NAME, PHONE NUMBER
  153.        AND REGISTRATION NUMBER JUST AS IT APPEARS ON THE TITLE SCREEN FOR
  154.        FUTURE REFERENCE.  IF YOU SEE A VERSION LATER THAN THE ONE YOU HAVE
  155.        ON A BBS, YOU CAN DOWNLOAD IT AND USE THE YOUR REGISTRATION
  156.        INFORMATION TO REGISTER THE PROGRAM.  TO DO SO, TYPE MEMO /REGISTER
  157.        ENTER YOUR NAME, PHONE NUMBER, AND REGISTRATION NUMBER EXACTLY THE
  158.        WAY IT APPEARS ON THE TITLE SCREEN NOW.

  160.       (EXE file must be in it's original form for this procedure to work.)
  161.        If you are using OS/2, a special technique is required to enable
  162.        this procedure since OS/2 will not let an EXE file to be written to
  163.        while it is open.  To register MEMO.EXE under OS/2, copy MEMO.EXE
  164.        to TEMP.EXE and the run TEMP /Register.  After the registration
  165.        procedure is completed, you can delete the TEMP.EXE file. 
  166.        (You might have to use this technique with some DOS 6.x setups)
