  35. I n t r o d u c t i o n

  37. Welcome to Master Chef!
  38.  
  39. Master Chef is a master at managing the most common kitchen chores: 
  40. maintaing recipe files, diet planning, meal planning and scheduling, 
  41. deciding what to fix for the coming weeks or months, and generating 
  42. the shopping list for the trip to the stores.
  43.  
  44. Master Chef integrates into one program all major functions. Each 
  45. function has been designed to not only be easy to use within a very 
  46. powerful and intuitive mouse drive "windowed" user interface, but 
  47. work together to automate the recipe management, kitchen meal and 
  48. diet planning, and shopping activies. Best of all, Master Chef is
  49. free! There is no registration fee. You may use it as long as 
  50. you like. Since it is free, however, there is no support provided
  51. for it's use. It is fully documented in the MCREF.DOC file and the
  52. on-line help using the F1 key. Master Chef has been in wide use
  53. for well over a year, with very few problems reported.

  64. NOTE:
  65. Master Chef CANNOT be run directly from the distribution disk. You must
  66. use the installation program to properly place the files on your disk
  67. for operation.

  71. Step 1 - Run the INSTALL program

  74. file on the distribution disk.

  77. See the file PACKING.LST for a complete inventory of all the files 
  78. that you should have. If you do not have PACKING.LST or all of the 
  79. files in it, then you have a BROKEN COPY.

  82. Step 2 - Start Master Chef

  84. To start the Master Chef program, type

  89. Step 3 - Read the Online Introduction to Master Chef

  91. (You've got to read something sometime!)

  93. Press the F1 key, then RETURN to read the Getting Started help 
  94. screens to get you oriented. Then you should browse through the
  95. other parts of the help available from the Table Of Contents.

  98. Step 4 - Read the Documentation!

  100. You may either use your favorite file viewer, or print the documents to 
  101. your printer. Start with the Master Chef Reference (the file called
  102. MCREF.DOC). To print the file, just type 
  103.  
  104.    PRINT MCREF.DOC <CR>
  105.  
  106. from within the directory that the file is in. If you don't like the 
  107. print command, then just copy the file to the printer with:

  109.    COPY MCREF.DOC PRN <CR>
