LW_MGR v0.8Γ
THIS IS A GAMMA VERSION, use at your own risk!
This documentation will NOT go into any specifics of LW_MGR, it will only
cover the basic installation and commands line parameters. Complete docs
will be available with the full non-beta release (v1.0) due out near the end
of June 1994 or beginning of July 1994.
LW_MGR is for use with RemoteAccess v2.0x ONLY!

your registration WILL unlock theregistered features for the areas you are
registered.
LWMenu \ - Only the Menu Editor has the registered features unlocked.
|----- All other areas have the registered features locked.
LWUser / - Only the User Editor has the registered features unlocked.
LW_MGR - Everything is in registered mode.
Master - Everything is in registered mode.
If you have registered LWUser or LWMenu and wish to upgrade to LW_MGR,
please read the upgrade.reg file.
------------------------------ what is LW_MGR? ------------------------------
LW_MGR is a door that gives you complete editing abilitys for your RA setup as
well as some DOS services. LW_MGR makes a great command line editor as well,
since everything that is in RACONFIG and RAMGR is in LW_MGR.
LW_MGR is distributed as a LlanoWare product. The LlanoWare concept is to
make quality products available to the RA Sysop. Yes, LW_MGR does have some
"cripple" features that are available to the registered sysop. However, I
do NOT require you to register, you are free to use the UNREGISTERED version
as long as you like.
-------------------------------- legal stuff --------------------------------
WARRANTY:
Yea right! There's ain't none. You download it at your own risk,
you install it at your own risk, and you use it at your own risk ...
simple enough? In the event the use of this program, at any time, causes
damage, corruption, or loss of data, what you'll get from me is a big
"Didn't you do a backup first?". In the event the use of this program, at
any time, causes a hardware failure, hard drive crash, or otherwise causes
your system to explode into 5,000 pieces, the scope of my guarantee to you
is that you may keep whatever pieces you can find ... and if you ask me
real nice, I'll tell you where you can go to buy superglue.
In legal mumbo jumbo, the bottom line is: The author shall not be
responsible for direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
resulting from any bug, defect, error, or failure to perform.
------------------------------ Registration ---------------------------------
Registration is NOT required for your continued use of the UNREGISTERED
version of LW_MGR. To have access to the registered only features, or just
cuz you think this is a great product please fill out the LW_MGR.REG form
that will be created when you run LWSETUP.
Registration for LW_MGR is $40.00 or you may get a MASTER registration for
the low price of $60.00 that is good for ANY LlanoWare door (game or utility).
If you have previously registered LWMenu or LWUser, please read the
UPGRADE.REG file that will also be created when you run LWSETUP.
------------------------------ Installation ---------------------------------
Please follow these simple instructions:
1)*********
Unarchive the file you received into a temporary directory.
2)*********
Run LWSETUP. You will be asked what directory to place LW_MGR in. This
directory will be created for you if it does not exist. I recomend a
directory in your DOS path for easier command line usage. You will also
be asked some other information about external support programs. This is
not critical to initial setup and can be changed at a later time by either
running LWSETUP again or editing the LW_MGR.CTL file that will be created
the first time you run LWSETUP.
If you are notified that the RA Environment has not been set, please
add the following line to your AUTOEXEC.BAT:
SET RA=C:\RA (or where ever your main RA directory is located)
A menu entry will be made for you, please check it after you have run
LW_MGR and edit colors etc to your taste. Please do NOT change ANY of
the command line!! This is VERY important that LW_MGR NOT be run from a
batchfile so that it may find all the needed RA configuration files.
Bill Dykstra's great file viewer may optionally be installed at the same
time. The version supplied with LW_MGR is the latest release available at the
time LW_MGR is released.
3)*********
Thats it, LW_MGR gets everything else it needs from your RAConfiguration.
For this reason, you may want to double check your archive conversion commands
for acuracy before using the re-archive, comment or file_id.diz importation
features of LW_MGR.
-------------------------------- Comments -----------------------------------
Again, this IS a Gamma version, your comments, suggestions, complaints are
MUCH needed and appreciated! Be sure you make a backup of your RA system
files for safety. There is also another archive inside this one, REBUILD.ARJ,
it contains a program that goes thru all your file database data files and
correct any (most?) problems that other utilitys may have caused. I do advise
you to run this program! I noticed during production of LW_MGR that some
other file utilitys were not properly updating the file database *.IDX files,
REBUILD takes care of this problem.
RA Files that you are advised to backup include:
wildcard: probable directory:
*.RA Your main RA directory and node directorys
*.RAL Your main RA directory
*.TXT Your TXT file database directory
*.FDB Your FDB file database directory
*.IDX Your IDX file database directory
USER*.BBS Your Message Base directory
*.MNU Any and all Menu directorys
--------------------- Optional Command Line Parameters ----------------------
/L = Local login, asks for User Name (I recommend using /S for faster login).
/S = Auto local login using SysOp's name.
/NOEMS = no swapping to memory, all needed swapping is to file and OVR
is not loaded into memory.
/C = allows editing of Users BELOW current users sec ONLY. Limits file area
access conforming to flag, sec level and group access.
/V = allow viewing only in userunit.
note: /V and /V CAN be used in combination to allow viewing of users
below current users sec level only.
note: /V and /C will not give proper access (none) if used in local mode.
this will be fixed in the next release.
????? and ?????
------------------- Things to be added AFTER v1.0 release ------------------
RAConfig Editor: 1) sort/move file and message areas
2) global file and message changes
User Editor: 3) global user changes
Language Editor: 4) search for text feature. (suggested by N.A. Moore)
DOS Services: 5) wildcard copy/delete command? (suggested by Pam Smith)
????? and ?????
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry, thats about all you get for now, need more? Check the help available
from many of the menus using ?, I know it's not much... If you still need help,
please contact me anytime. Any time an error occures in LW_MGR it will either
notify you on the screen what the error is and/or will record the error in a
file named LW_MGR.ERR that will be located in the same directory as the
LW_MGR.EXE. If you find such a file or have any problems, PLEASE send this
ERRor file to me along with as detailed explanation of what was being done and
ANY other helpfull information you can provide.
