  6. -What is InWatch?
  7.     
  8.     InWatch is a Windows program that "Watches" programs when they are 
  9. being installed in Windows.  Essentially what it does is create backup copies 
  10. of your configuration files (AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG.SYS, WIN.INI, SYSTEM.INI) 
  11. and creates a list of the files that are in your Windows and Windows system
  12. directories.  After you install an application, you use InWatch's compare
  13. feature to compare your present configuration files and directory listings 
  14. with the backups created previously.  InWatch will create an ASCII file that 
  15. will show you exactly every line that has changed in your configuration
  16. files, and every file and directory that has been added to your windows and 
  17. windows system directories.

  19. -What do I need to run InWatch?
  20.  
  21.     You need Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and 1MB of free memory.

  23. -How do I install InWatch?
  24.  
  25.     Run the INSTALL.EXE program from windows.  INSTALL will create a
  26. directory on your C: drive, C:\INWATCH, then copy the InWatch files to that
  27. directory.  INSTALL will then create a program group and items in program
  28. manager.

  30. -Why should I use InWatch?
  31.  
  32.     Many applications, especially newer ones, make many changes to your 
  33. configuration files and add lots of files to your windows and windows system 
  34. directories.  Some application suites add more than 100 lines to your WIN.INI 
  35. file.  By using InWatch you will know every modification each application has 
  36. made to your system.

  38. -Is it hard to use?
  39.  
  40.     No.  There is full on-line help available from the application, just
  41. click on the HELP button.

  43. -How do I use InWatch?
  44.   These are the steps you take to use InWatch:
  45. 1. Load InWatch.
  46. 2. Select the Backup directory. The backup directory can be any directory 
  47.    (but preferably the InWatch directory).
  48. 3. Press the BACKUP button (This makes back-up copies of the configuration 
  49.    files and directory listings).
  50. 4. Install any windows application.
  51. 5. Press the COMPARE button. You will be prompted for a description and
  52.    filename for the COMPARE file. An ASCII (text-only) file will be created
  53.    in the backup directory, with the name you supplied.
  54. YOU'RE DONE! That's all there is to it! Now when you need to remove this 
  55. application from your hard disk, or just remember what changes it made, you
  56. simply use the VIEW FILES feature, select the COMPARE file, and review the 
  57. information.

  62.  -What is SHAREWARE?  Shareware is software that is freely distributed to 
  63. people so they can try it before they buy it.  When you receive a copy of a 
  64. shareware program, you are given a specified period of time, in which you 
  65. may decide if you like the program and find it useful.  If you do like the 
  66. program, or continue to use the program past the specified period of time, 
  67. you MUST send a registration fee to the author of the program. 
  68.   
  69.   When you register InWatch, you will receive an updated version of the 
  70. program on disk and printed documentation.  The updated version will include
  71. the Optimize feature, which looks at your configuration files and tells you
  72. what settings might work better for your setup, or what settings are 
  73. available only through in-depth knowledge of these files.

  75.   InWatch registration is US$14.95 or CAN$19.95.  You may try this program
  76. for 30 days, at the end of which you MUST register it or discontinue using 
  77. it.  You are free to pass this program, in its original, unmodified form, 
  78. to anyone you wish.  If you find this program useful, or use it past the
