This is the HQ-FAX Conversion screen help file.
Copyright (c) 1993 by HTF Consulting
The DOS command sequence "Type HQFAX.hlp | more"
is used to present this help file. Any key will exit help at the end.
=========================== Function Keys =====================================
<F1> entered with the cursor in the ECL field or the FNT field or the PCX
field, will produce a list of ECL or FNT or PCX files respectively. The ECL
field must have a directory name in it, not a file name or partial file name.
<F1> entered with the cursor in any other field will produce this help file.
<F2> indicates you are ready to proceed with the conversion and view or send.
<F3> allows you to verify your input fields before proceeding.
<F7> indicates that you wish to prepare and/or send a cover sheet.
<F9> restores the latest screen data from disk in case you have made a mess.
<F10> saves the current screen data to disk. Data will NOT be saved otherwise!
<ESC> exits the program.
========================= FIELD INPUTS =======================================
EPSON FILE: Enter the name of an Epson Control Language file which you have
printed to disk from your word processor. You may override the ".ECL" file
extension, but be sure that the file exists.
FONT: Enter the name of your chosen default font. This font will only replace
the draft font. Any change of font in the ECL file will override this choice.
FAX FILE(S): Enter the directory and file name(s) for the FAX images. Use the
'*' to indicate the same name as the input (ECL) file.
FORM FILE: Enter the name of a PCX file which you wish to use as a pre-printed
form or custom stationary. A leading '!' indicates reverse-video. Optional.
PAGE RANGE: Enter a page range that you want converted, EX: 01-10. Optional
VIEW: Enter 'y', 'p' or 't'. Either 'y' or 't' present a "text view" of the
image, convenient for reading. 'P' presents a wide (pixel-for-pixel) view.
SEND TO: Enter the complete phone number you wish to FAX to. This may include
a leading '9' or a Long Distance account number. See the section on sending
FAXes in the HQ-FAX User manual as well as your modem documentation.
OPTIONS: Enter any send command options provided by your modem software, such
as a recipient list or a schedule time. See your modem documentation.
================= OUTPUT FORMATTING OPTIONS ================================
[B]OLD//[R]EVERSE: Enter 'y' to have Double-print control codes in the ECL file
interpreted as Reverse-video, else BOLD replaces Dbl-print. This is optional.
[C]ONTIGUOUS//[M]ANY: Enter 'c' to produce one long image without page breaks.
Enter 'm' to produce many files (one per page). This is optional.
MODEM SOFTWARE//IMAGE FORMAT. Indicate your modem product if you wish to send
or an image format if you just want to produce image(s).
Modem products are: BF(Bitfax), CP(Complete PC), FR(Frecom), QL(Quick-Link)
Image formats are: 00=No header(Huffman), DC=DCX, PC=PCX, TB=TIFF(b),
TF=TIFF(f),TU=TIF(b)Uncompressed. THIS FIELD IS REQUIRED
PAGE DIMENSIONS: Enter the page size you wish. Optional - default is "NA".
PAGE MARGINS: Enter an extra left margin in 100's of an inch. This is optional.
REVRS-VIDEO char: Enter a special character to be interpreted as turning on or
off Reverse-video. This is optional.
PURE PIXELS: Enter 'y' to indicate that your document contains JUST graphics,
produced by your W.P. Otherwise graphics will be expanded 10%% in an effort to
mininimize gaps in the image. Some experimenting may be necessary. Optional.
LANDSCAPE MODE: If this option is available, enter 'y' to rotate images 90
degrees before FAXing. ECL file MUST be in landscape mode. This is optional.
