  6. Homers' Doom is a complete collection of Simpson sounds to replace the
  7. ones that come with Doom.  Let's face it - if a moon base is infested
  8. with demonic monsters and needs cleaning up, Homer J. Simpson is the
  9. man to do it.

  12. How to install Homers' Doom
  13. ---------------------------
  14. Homers' Doom comes with its own install program.  To use it you must log
  15. on to the drive which you have unzipped the archive in, for example :
  16.  
  17. UNZIP HOMERDM1 A:\     <-- Unzips the sound and install files to floppy
  18. A:                     <-- Logs you onto the A drive
  19. CD \                   <-- Set the current directory
  20. INSTALL                <-- Install the new sounds
  21.  
  22. Now, is that easy or what?
  23.  
  24. The only other thing you need to do is make sure that you have a copy of
  25. DMAUD V10 or higher by Bill Neisius in your DOOM directory.  There
  26. should be a copy wherever you can get Homers' Doom from.
  27. I would recommend that you let the install program make a backup copy
  28. of your WAD file (the file that holds all the data for Doom) before you
  29. install the new sounds.  This can take some time, and you need at least
  30. 10 Megs of disk space, but it makes it easier to undo any changes.

  33. Other stuff
  34. -----------
  35. In creating Homers' Doom we made over 100 samples from about 80 different
  36. episodes, but only used 45 of them.  This means that there were some
  37. classic quotes that are not used.  We felt that it was better to use
  38. sounds and quotes that fitted the game rather than try to include all the
  39. characters.

  41. Homers' Doom was created by two rabid Simpsons fans from Cambridge, 
  42. England.  We believe that Homer is God and we try to emulate him in 
  43. everything we do.  The tricky part is putting on 150 pounds and making

  53. Legal stuff
  54. -----------
  55. Basically you use the INSTALL program at your own risk, and don't try to
  56. sue me for Millions if it trashes your hard drive.  I give no warranty
  57. with the program and I will not accept responsibility for any problems
  58. caused by its use.  I don't see how it _could_ trash your hard drive,
  59. but I have to say that anyway.  It's also up to you to check for viruses.
