WHAT IS NEW WITH THE LATEST GED2TT PROGRAM 12 May 1994
The numbering system for the ZIPed GEDcom to Tiny Tafel,
GED2TTxx.ZIP, or self-extracting GED2TTxx.EXE files is as follows:
The first x represents the present version of GED2TT in the
ZIPped file. The higher the number/letter the later the version. This
may include program changes and documentation changes.
The second x is a change in documentation only. Usually if the
program is up-dated then the documentation may also be updated therefore
the second x is mostly a 1. A 2 or greater means documentation change
without program change.
- - - Recent versions and what was changed - - -
GED2TTH1.ZIP (revised 12 May 1994)
Modified program to work with PAF v2.3 gedcom files.
Improved gedcom file modification routines.
Compiled program using Power Basic version 3.0
GED2TTG1.ZIP (revised 26 June 1993)
Modified soundex routine to process / and \.
GED2TTF2.ZIP (revised 15 February 1993)
Modified input-output file selection routine.
Updated documentation.
GED2TTF1.ZIP (revised 21 July 1992)
Modified display of names routines to maximum of 64 per page.
Maximum name size increased to 16 characters.
GED2TTE1.ZIP (revised 20 March 1992)
1. Modified delete routine to allow user to delete from the TT
those names that only occur ONCE, TWICE or THREE times.
GED2TTD1.ZIP (revised 15 August 1991)
1. Modified Soundex coding ...process question mark ? in name as vowel.
GED2TTC1.ZIP (revised 10 June 1991)
1. Birth/place entry prompts improved.
2. Added capability for user to silence alarms (BEEPs).
3. Added capability to repeat same value of birth/place data
on multiple prompts for birth/place information when making
the Tiny Tafel from a gedcom file which has missing
birth and place data.
4. Modified soundex code routine to force all non-alpha
characters [ i. e. space, (, -, _, *, ), and numbers]
to be considered as vowels. This is to conform with
RootsIII, PAF, and TMS soundex coding. I believe this
to be wrong...for example:
NAME NEW CODE Earlier GED2TT CODE
Mc Carrol M226 M264
McCarrol M264 M264
Fitzsimmons F325 F325
Fitz-simmons F322 F325
I believe that similiar names should have the same Soundex.
However, I made the change to conform with the others!
5. Increased the maximum number of names GED2TT can process
to 20,000.
GED2TTB1.ZIP (revised 30 May 1991)
Modified soundex coding routine to conform to TMS which considers
blank spaces as vowels.
This codes McCarrol differently from Mc Carrol
M264 M226
GED2TTA1.ZIP (revised 24 May 1991)
1. Corrected "bug" in Soundex coding routine which occasionaly
caused errors depending on order that names were coded.
Needed to reset all variables before coding each name.
2. Added capability to prompt user to enter place data to Tiny
Tafel if none was found in gedcom file.
3. Expanded selection of data files from 5 (A-E) to 6 (A-F) drives.
GED2TT95.ZIP (revised 15 March 1991)
Modified program to accept ROOTS gedcom files that did not have
the names bracketed with slashes [/] as PAF does. ROOTS gedcom
files have the [/] only at the beginning of the name.
