  7. My thanks go to all the nuns, anagarikas, laymen and women who have
  8. listened time and again to my expositions of the Buddha's teachings.

  10. Without them, these talks would not have happened and this little
  11. booklet would not be possible.

  14. supported my work and the publication of this book by their continued

  37. This little volume is offered to all people everywhere, who know
  38. //dukkha// which is not only suffering, pain and grief, but all the
  39. unsatisfactoriness all of us experience during our lifetime.
  40.  
  41. It is that unfulfilled striving in heart and mind which keeps pushing us
  42. in so many directions to find the ultimate satisfaction.
  43.  
  44. When we have realised that all the avenues we have tried have brought us
  45. to a dead end, then the time has come to turn to Lord Buddha's teachings
  46. and see for ourselves whether his promise:
  47.  
  48.           "There's only one thing I teach
  49.            That's suffering
  50.            And its end to reach"
  51.  
  52. can be experienced within ourselves and whether fulfilment is possible.
  53.  
  54. As practice progresses, we will find that by letting go of our
  55. preconceived ideas on how and where //dukkha// can be avoided, we come
  56. upon uncharted landscapes within ourselves, which provide a totally new
  57. concept of life, its purpose, its value and its ultimate reality.

  59. May there be many "with little dust in their eyes" who can turn the tide
  60. on //dukkha// and be liberated.
